Read about hubcentric rings - Got a Question for ya'll
Can someone shed some more light on hub-centric rings?. I read the post by bl420 about them and I think I understand what they do, but my question is, are these basically a filler between the smaller hub center and the larger bore of the given rim? How does this compare to "spacers" that local cars shops recommend when kids get rims installed on their cars? Is there any chance a spacer/ hub-centric ring equivalent exists to mate a 04 range TL rim to a legend hub or is a center bore our only option, because I really wanna get some damn TL wheels. Let me know Thanks guys.

okay. the center bore of the wheels on the TLs are smaller. thats why you need to get them bored out to our hub size.
aftermarket wheels generally have large center bores so they can fit a wide range of cars. for instance if a wheel manufacturer made a wheel with a center bore of 56mm (integras/civics) it wouldnt fit our cars. so thats why they usually make it 73mm and you use a hubcentric ring to correctly center the wheel on your hub. so a hubcentric ring goes around your stock hub. and fits in between the hub and center bore of the wheel a wheel spacer is something different. it is a disk that has holes so that you slide it over your lug nuts and onto your rotor face. and is sandwiched in between the rotor and the wheel. it is designed to increase the track of the car and also to clear suspension parts if your offset is too high. not really recommended since you're eliminating your hub once you put the spacers on... so your wheels are going to have to be lug centric. |

dang, well thanks for the info man you know your stuff. So you gotta bore them. I get it now just want to rule out all options, it just blows. Does a bore job equate to them using a type of lathe on the rim and how much does something like that cost and what kind of shop would do it? I'm in Southern CT but that probably doesn't do much for you. Thanks again.

to bore out rims...your looking at 25~50 a wheel. i got mine done at $25 a wheel.
to add one thing about the centric rings...the reason for these are so your wheels sit on the hub centered. and dont forget when you get the rims bored out to tell him the measurment. if i rembmer corectly its 70.1mm...someone should chime in and correct me if im wrong.

yeah the exact measurement to tell him would be good, and where do you go for something like that?
