Recharging 134 system... no pressure when system running..

Hope someone can help me out here.

My A/C system was re-charged by a mechanic last summer and it took about 8 months for it to lose its charge (meaning I got a small leak).

Decided to get a self-recharge kit from Autozone and follow the steps on LEGENDTuner. Here is my problem:

I am running the engine and the A/C.. of course initially the compressor isn't running as there isn't enough pressure to set off the triple pressure sensor to engage the compressor clutch.

I attach the gauge to the low side and see there is a slight pressure, but below the minimal 25psi mark.

I then atach the can of R-134 to the hose (the gauge is connected with a T-connector so you can recharge with the gauge on) and start releasing the R-134. I see the pressure start to rise and once it's over the 25psi mark I hear the compressor engage and the system is running.

Here's where it gets wierd.... immediately the pressure drops down to ZERO! I let the whole can into the system and the pressure still is at zero. I then put in a second can and still the same thing. Leaving the gauge on the system, I turn OFF the A/C... immediatley the pressure rises to like 50 - 55psi. I then run the A/C again and pressure drops to ZERO. Car is blowing colder air though.

I evacuate the system a bit on the LOW side to let out some pressure so I'm just a tad below 45psi (when the A/C is off). System seems to work fine.

Two days later my A/C not working again... compressor not engaging. Probalby means I get some leak somewhere big. I put in another bottle just to check... same thing.. no pressure when running A/C.

Here is where I goofed.... I put the whole can in and when turning off the A/C... pressure rises into the 60-70psi zone. I turn on the A/C and the compressor engages but no cold air. I let out pressure from the LOW side again to drop it within spec (of course I can only see pressure when the system is OFF). Even though pressure is within spec.. I get no cold air even though the compressor is running.

What could be causing this? Did I damage anything? Why would I have no pressure reading when the system is running?

At the same time we did my buddy's MKIV Supra and his was behaving normal! During re-charge when hte system engaged, there was still a pressure reading and recharged it into normal reading... no problems.

Help anyone!
