Red vinyl on coupe tails ???
I've got my vinyl but so many other irons in the fire right now! I want to ask those of you who have done this to your coupe.
I plan on completely covering my tailights and cuting out the reverse part. What I'm questioning is on the very top and sides the amber part sort of wraps around the edgas of the lense. How do you get the vinyl wrapped around the corners there? Is it easy, sort of a biatch, real hard or what? ![]() Thanks, John

it's a bitch, I tried with Legendary93 vinyl and failed. A couple wrinkles here and there may good enough for some people but it just doesn't cut it for me.

If you're pretty good with masking tape and spray painting try this stuff for a perfect result. It's already got the color and clear coat in one.
Here is how my coupe tails turned out. [IMG] [/IMG]

wow mikey! I might have to pick some of that up! The red tint spray i've used before got the worst finish ever on my taillights, i had to throw them away! I'm using taillight tape right now (vinyl) and its wrinkled around the edges and coming up after so many times i've washed my car. Its harder on coupe tails because of that curve all the way around the amber part...
![]() Looks like that lens paint on ebay might be the trick to perfect tails.

Hey Shaar, just so nobody gets the wrong product, this is the exact brand of spray I got. All of the writing on the can is Japanese, but it's basically the same procedure.
Here's the link; since you said you've had a spray that didn't work before maybe some are better than others, anyways this is the one I got the results with:

Awesome. I used the stuff you get at hobby shops. The transparent candy red paint. Comes in a tiny can and as of now, highly NOT recommended.
Man, $30 for that little can! Do you have any left over i can buy from you? ![]()

That can is actually about the size of a 20 oz coke bottle and would do at least 2 sets of tails (5-6 coats a piece). I have a little left over but I'm probably going to save it for future touch ups. I dunno, lemme see how much I have left when I get home tonite.

Ok, heres what I'm going to try. I'm gonna get some bright red model car paint in a bottle and I'm going to brush it on the outside of the lenses to cover that fricken amber up. Then I'm going to lay the red transparent vinyl I bought during the group buy over the entire tailight and cut it with an exacto knife.

Mine was a pain in the ass too around the top edges. I plan to get the sedan pieces and doing the whole light. This time I want to try the blowdrier and get the edges to lay down flat.

dunno, you'll notice the line of the vinyl and it may start to peel up after washes. i dont like the vinyl idea anymore the more i think about it and how ugly it looks on my tails up close.

I can take some pictures of my tails close-up. The vinyl was heated with a heat gun and there are no wrinkes present. Can't speak for the longevity or durability of the vinyl yet because it's only been on there a few days. I'm pretty OCD about my Legend, so the day I see that the vinyl shows signs of discoloration, peeling, or wear, it's getting taken off. For $10, I won't be out much. Definitely cheaper than ruining a set of tails by trying to paint them...
