Redline???

So, I've been shaking down my newly acquired 94L...The previous owner has installed an HKS Air Intake and a Greddy Exhaust, so it should stomp pretty good...

And it does, but I have noticed that when I really get on it, the tach needle will climb into redline before the vehicle shifts. So, how bad is it to go redline (and I mean just barely redline, not even 7K RPM)? Should I lay off accelerating that hard?

The revs are limited by the ECU. Type I motors rev to about 6300 before the rev limiter kicks in and they start to hesitate. Type IIs go higher, up to about 6700 before the limiter kicks in and cuts the ignition intermittently.

Love to redline and get the nice little tire spin into second gear. It's too much fun to resist.
