Do I have to remove the rear deck completely to get to the speakers?

No, you don't have to, use a butter knife and try to pry the top cover off then you'll notice the speaker holds down by 4 phillip screws, just unscrew them, it is very simple. You'll get the rear deck speaker out by this way.

okay to remove the speakers you must remove the speaker cover. then there will be 4 screw aoround the speaker. undo them, then as you lift the speaker out of the houseing, there will be a wire harness attactched to a plug. unplug them and your speakers are out. and you dont need to remove the rear deck, it will just cause a lot of confusion.

I tried to pop my rear speaker covers off but they just did not want to pop off no matter how much I pried so I just gave up. Are they just snapped on?

You need to pry just the mesh cover off of the speakers. If you're trying to pry from the bottom and pop the entire plastic base off, you're just wasting your time lol.

Try to pop just the mesh covering from the 4 corners, and you should here 4 satisfying pops when the clips give way.

/\ + 1.

Yeah, pry the mess only and you should start prying the mess edge from the rear window, don't start prying it from the seat.

And pry from the back (closest to the back window) /\ that is the side that has the pegs you see in that picture. It will pull it up easiest (from my experience)
