There is no way to remove them without not leaving a mark. If they've been on your car a while, then the paint under the stripe is not as faded as the rest of your car, and you will be able to see it. With a black car they might not be as noticeable, but I've never removed the pinstripe on a black car, only maroon and green. Most autobody shops I have spoken to (I hate the things also) do NOT want to remove them for fear of it being ugly and needing a lot of work. Either way you will at least need to do some minor polishing to get to to look good.
That being said, if you simply HAVE to remove them you need a blowdryer and a clean terrycloth towel. You have to heat up the pinstripe, since it is only a sticker, and gently rub it off. IMPORTANT: do not overheat a section and burn the paint, it will leave an ugly blemish. Afterward you will need to polish and wax that section as it has not gotten any attention since the pinstripe went on and will likely stand out compared to the rest of your paint. Again, I caution you against doing this if you're not comfortable with the likelyhood of needing to do work on the paint and clearcoat afterward.

I removed mine with a blow dryer and a plastic ice scraper. One I got the striping off...I used 3M adhesive glue remover and then polished it with 3M 6008 fine polish - any scratch remover should work though. There is no evidence of the stripes left.

Mine was removed by a body shop when they painted my sideskirts. You could see lines at first, but after a couple detailings you can't see any of it.
![]() ![]() As long as it's not painted on, remove it.

I would not recomend this but I used a combination of razor blade, goo gone, and hair dryer. Again don't do this at home. But it did get most of it out. The rest seemed to have transfered to the clear coat.

Extreme cold and moisture will do it as well. A friend of mine's Civic got buried under snow for a week in Denver. When the snow melted, the pinstripe was all willy nilly because they had flowed off the car in sections, moved around, and then reattached themselves later.
Kind of funny considering it looks like the pinstriping was "blown" off -- not that the POS commuter could go that fast though ![]() -g

Reviving an old thread, but I bought an "eraser" attachment from a detail shop. It looks like a large round eraser that chucks in a drill. You just have to be careful not to run it faster than it tells you or it will leave a mark. Otherwise, the stripes come off perfectly. A little tedious, but worth the trouble. You can see the non-faded paint underneath, but I think that looks better than old stripes. Totally changes the look of the car...

I'm with you there: I'm not even really comfortable with taking the orbital to my car yet (in fact, have yet to do so: only hit my sis' car w/ it for "practice" and though it came out alright, I'm still afraid.)
