Sad Day in Whoville - Mechanic may of stolen my car
So -
Ever since moving down from NYC a few months back I noticed my car was leaking/burning oil. So my brother recommends his mechanic buddy he has known for years to work on it plus he was a former acura tech. So who better right...
Since my job doesn't require me having a car all the time I left it with him so he can do all the work. Timing belt, water pump, bearings, heads the whole nine yards. He called me 2 weeks back said the car was still leaking a bit of oil and he needs to trace it out. All last week I am calling the dude and it goes to VM. I had family in town this week for xmas so was busy with them. Today I call him and phone was disconnected. Go by the shop all the cars he had there are gone and the gates are locked. @ this very moment my head feels like its about to explode. I have had my car since 1998 and it has survived a lot in NYC. Down in Atlanta less then 4 months and my baby is MIA. Waiting for my brother to trace down some of his affiliates to find out what going on before I go to the police station and report it stolen.

Thanks !! Just did that but they couldn't take a report over the phone. Need to call back in the morning or go back to where the car was last seen and call them.
A cop buddy of mine down here is telling me I will have to go and possibly swear out a warrant against him and has you mentioned file a civil suit.
Truly will have to start letting people earn my trust even when they are recommended by family.
This is terrible, sounds like he went out of business and probably scrapped your car. I had this happen to me with my very first car. I hope every thing works out, you cannot trust anyone anymore!

Man I hope not.. He would of actually earned more money from the work he was performing vs scrapping it.
My brother is currently back in NYC and won't be back until next week. So not much he can do outside of calling everyone he knows in that circle that knows this dude. As my cop buddy said I am hoping he got arrested and all the cars seized and impounded. Will have a better idea tomorrow. But did not find him on any of the inmate search databases I looked at down here.
ugggg. I was just telling someone the other day if anything happened to my acura I wouldn't be able to buy another car anytime soon. Seems like my worst fears are happening.

My brother was finally able to get someone to return his call. He received confirmation that my car is still at the old location locked up in the garage. My brother was then able to get the mechanics new #... Dude called me back and said in moving his shop last week he broke his phone and lost all #s.. So even though my car was ready for pickup he had no way to contact me.
Pretty much told him that looked real bad man. Your phone gets disconnected, all the cars in your shops yard is gone, the gate is locked with no sign stating you moved etc.... I still don't have it so lets see what happens tomorrow morning when I go and pick it up. Somewhat relieved but will feel better when I get my car back tomorrow.
