They came and picked up my 95 Legend 6-speed coupe last night. My sweet ride is gone. After eight years and 140,000 miles my time with the car has come to an end. I wrote the following as sort of a “closure” to help address the loss I feel right now.
I can still remember my feeling driving it home from the dealer-disbelief that I had such a nice car. It was beautiful, classy, sophisticated, but most of all - wonderfully fun to drive. I received so many compliments on its beauty, and smiled to myself each time. They didn’t realize the real beauty of the car was its speed, power and luxurious ride. What a kick it was to go out and get in the car each morning. I loved giving it that little extra gas when getting of the freeway and feeling the power as my coupe quickly jumped to freeway speeds. During the early years I looked for the top end, but finally decided that this car would just always be very willing to go faster than I would. I was always amazed at how fast it wound out in 4th, and the pull it had at shifting to 5th at about 125 mph. When I first got the car I started having nightmares about wrecking it. I finally told myself I would just buy another Legend 6-speed coupe, and the nightmares went away. Over the years I hung on to that thought that I could just buy another Legend. But then technology took over, and I decided that if I lost the Legend, I would get something different and newer. So the last few years I started watching all the new models with 6-speed transmissions. The CL-S had little appeal, as I felt my Legend was so much more car. The G-35 had great performance, but I didn’t need that extra power as my Legend had plenty and the car wasn’t that attractive. I looked at the new TL and was not impressed with the looks, but then I read about the high tech toys. I heard the “siren song” of the voice controlled navigation system, the Bluetooth phone, and the DVD-audio sound system and I was lost. So I sold my coupe. An attractive woman in her 30ies fell in love with the car as soon as she saw it. She was the first person who answered my advertisement although I had many other callers. I was pleased as I felt that she would take good care of it. It surprised me that I shed a few tears after getting her deposit and knowing that my sweet ride was sold. And now that it is gone I have a fear that I will never have another car that I care about so much. I will still be around the forum as I still have my RL. I have received so much information and help from the forum members over the years, and I wanted to thank all those who contribute to the board. I decided that rather than giving my 95 Deluxe Brochure and 93 Service Manuals to the new owner, I would sell them on Ebay. I wanted some Legend enthusiast to get the chance to enjoy them. They are on Ebay now if you are interested. Thanks for all your support. Enjoy you Legends today because you have to remember that nothing lasts forever.

Good luck with the TL man. I'm sure you'll enjoy it...and come back and visit often.
And can you please link the eBay auctions? Thanks.

Matt, I know that this is against the rules. But I was asked and I promise never to do it again:

Got Legend?
|
I haven't had a car for more than 3 years. I tend to get bored with them, but I will admit a small feeling of remorse each time I see them driving away with their new owner. And the Legend probably wont be any different, but we'll see. People change... things change.
Good luck with your TL. Its a beautiful car, great lines. I'm sure that when you're shedding a tear re: selling the TL 8 yrs from now you won't even make any mention of the Legend that you once loved like a child. Its funny how sentimental we get about our cars, but so easily forget that sentiment once they're replaced.

That was deep man. Sometimes I'm almost ashamed how strongly I feel about my car. I've only owned one car before the legend and even though it was merely a 90 accord dx, I do miss having it around. It's kind of sad to think I bought it in average condition and then had to sell it for 300 bucks because it was burning oil, needed new exhaust, and had collision damage. It's like I didn't do it justice for what it did for me. It will just rack up miles as a construction worker's commute vehicle until it falls apart well before its time. The guy just came to my door, asked if he could test drive it, then handed me cash and I gave him the title. The deal went down so much faster than I expected I didn't get a chance to do anything except take all my stuff out of it. Seriously if I find it again and was in a situation that would support 2 cars, I would buy it back and fix it up to like-new. To me, my car has the same kind of feeling like your home, your room, your bed... it's yours and you simply belong with it.
I love my coupe. I look forward to jumping in and driving wherever, whether it is to my friends house, to work, or to go get a root canal. If I ever had to sell it, I know I would be shedding tears and I would probably lose it and start balling after seeing it drive out of sight. But I prefer not to think about that because I would do anything to keep this car in my life. Good luck getting over your loss, the TL will be very nice, the styling has grown on me alot since it came out. I need to go watch something violent and destructive now that you've gone and gotten me all emotional. :p

Almost sounds like you were breaking up with your girlfriend
That was touchy though. I know that feeling. I have a few cars before my 92LS coupe, and soo far this is the best car i've own. There is not a week that goes by without people telling me that's a beautiful car, especially when i have it parked in my shop.

Jime- Glad to hear you're sticking with the Acuras, and you still have a Legend (even though they call it an RL here in the US). Thank you for being one of the only ones on ebay who took the time to photograph the pages of the brochure. It's so neat to see my desert mist GS in there!
Did you take any pics of your coupe when it was new? Would be nice to see some actual pics of a Legend when it was new. Good luck!
