Should I buy back my crashed 6 speed coupe to part it out?

A deposit has been paid for the whole car, as of now the car is sold. If I or the buyer end up with anything to sell after he's done with it, I'm sure we will post up about it.

***
I don't really have the space to do it, though I could make the time. I doubt my parents would let me use their Garage for parting out a coupe. It seems likely the car will just go to a yard.

What do you guys think? It would be great if anyone wants to buy it whole. It is currently located in the San Francisco area. I am asking $1950 as is where is. If you're in Los Angeles, I can tow it down here for about $300, so that would be $2250. See my sig for the thread.

Do your folks have a storage shed in the back yard that you can store the piece parts in for a while. Do a rough estimate in your head. Look your car over and notice the things that sell quick either on this forum or on ebay. If you have those highly sought after parts in good condition, them most definitely buy it back and part it out. (only if you have storage room)
If you dont have the space if might be more aggrivation and good. cause it might take you a while to part it, and sell the parts.

From an insurance point of view, our cars are easily totaled. The real question is, "how much to buy back." Another question is, "how much
time/effort can I devote to parts/resale." Parts? Repair? Sorry, I cannot
help, except to say the car is desireable as parts or restore. Your involvement
is the factor: give-up, or make the best of it. Time is money. The situation sucks, hope it works out well for you.

The buyer wants the transmission! He's already given me a deposit as well. I will keep my eye open. You may be better off looking for a 5 speed. They're cheaper and easier to find.

if you have the time/energy/space - buying back a car and then stripping it down and selling it part for part is always more profitable. just a pain in the ass. my co-worker bought a wrecked 240SX for $800 and stripped it completely and made $2,000 on parts. It wasnt rare or anything, just a stock 240. So his profit was $1,200. If you can find a buyer for the whole car, even easier
