Slow Retracting Seatbelt

Hey Guys,

I noticed that both my passenger and driver seatbelts are slow to retract, is there anything that I can do to fix this problem? I have already tried cleaning the belt loops.

It depends... the belt winders themselves might need to be cleaned or lubed but if you've made an effort and haven't had any success take it to your dealer: there is a lifetime warranty on the seat belts in the vehicle. If your local dealer deems them out of spec, they can replace them for you free of charge.

Seriously? That sucks...

Even the dealers near me (DC suburbs: usually the dealers are miserable to deal with) confirmed it for me at one point...

I think they wanted to charge me diagnostic time tho...

So heres a good question. I have black seat belts, they retract slow. Since type-A parts are discontinued, how would I get new ones? and do I just go into the dealership and say my seatbelts are bad?

No idea if they can source discontinued stuff: that I sorta doubt. Only one way to find out though: go and ask!

Or carefully restore your current gear...

I read some time ago all that needs to be done is clean them. They never were very quick even when new. I had a pontiac that the buckle would smack the door glass hard enough that I was sure it would break one day. I like them slow much better. The owners manual I think tells how to clean them.

You Canada guys really ought to look into this. I just found the windows sticker from my sedan and it says right on it: "Lifetime Seatbelt Warranty"

Wonder if the Canadian cars do too?
