Smoke when taking off only when revs drop
Hey guys,
I am trying to diagnose this - I am pretty sures its the valve seals. When I am taking off from a light and if I don't rev up enough (ride the clutch), I end up smoke showing all over the place, absolutely epic amounts of smoke engulfing the car behind me. Any ideas? I am using Mobil 1 10W30

Typical valve seals symptom.

Go get it compression tested and a leak down...let you know how long it will live. I did that when my civic was dying...it ran for 2 years on 2 cylinders, scary as hell in hindsight!

Mine does the same thing. I was told it was the piston rings worn out.

I completely disagree on the valve seals.
When valve seals leak, you notice a huge puff of smoke when you start the car after it's been sitting a long time, not when you're driving it. My car has this same issue, and it's the head gaskets. I know one, pretty sure both, are seeping and getting worse everyday. I leave behind a huge cloud of smoke when I accelerate from a stoplight, no matter how hard or soft I gun it. I'd start checking your coolant and oil.
