Spark Plug Answer Directly From NGK - good info

I always read so many differing opinions about which NGK Spark Plug to use (at least we mostly agree that NGK's should be used)...

I emailed NGK and asked about our Legends and what would they suggest.

My question was:
Given that:
a set of six G-Power Platinum plugs are $18,
a set of six Iridium IX are $42 and
a set of six OEM specified Laser Platinums are $78....

...with the rising costs of gas, will I gain any fuel economy improvements by spending more on my plugs or will they just last longer?

NGK's Technical Support response was: "Because all these plugs are are fine wire designs the mileage will be pretty much the same. The main difference here is in longevity just as you stated. I would pick according to how long you would like the plugs to last. Hope this helps, thank you. "

I've had the Iridiums in mine for 4 years now, still in great condition. Next time I will go Platinum though... I'd rather change more often.

If you have a clean running car, then Iridiums are the way to go. Otherwise, if you change 2 to 3 times with coppers or Platinums, calculate the rate of inflation & labor to change plugs, it will at least double the cost of Iridiums.

However, if your engine is gunk'n up and faul'n the plugs, go copper and change often.

Use a ratchet homie the spark plug is located inside the coil pack. I finally figure out why my car idle wried, one of the coil pack was rip and i had to tape it up with electric tape for now and bout to replace soon. I bought ngk platinum laser the other day and i thought those was the problem to my idleing.

You can buy them on NGK's website for $61.87. Here is the link and do a search for your car (automotive, make, model, year, engine) and then select Wire Sets

http://www.ngk.com/results_app.asp
