Spraying paint in cold weather.

Anyone good at painting?

I just recently noticed a rust growing near by windshield frame and door frame so that I am now worknig to sand it down to bare metal for painting prep.

I prepared all matching paint and primer, even rust proof spray etc etc, and almost ready to spray paint....

Then, in this cold Michigan, the weather becomes suddenly cold and I see the very first snow TODAY!!!! The very first snow in 2005... dang!

Is it ok to proceed this painting job even in 30~40F degree? The instruction recommends to use the spray in >50~60F at least.... Anyone have any idea/advice?

if the paint mfg says to use under certain temps then i would be inclined to do so.the cold might not screw up your paint job but then theres the great chance that it will.

You'll be sorry if you try to paint in 30 degree weather. Worst case scenario, rent a kerosene heater for the week and keep the garage warm until the paint cures.

Ok! Thanks a lot for your prompt responce.

Kerosene heater is good suggestion. Actually, I was going to buy a heater for my garage.

What size would be ideal? It is normal 2 car garage attached to house....
