Squeaking Front end.

My son has a 94 legend sedan. It just started squeaking real bad on the front left hand side. I have replaced the cv /tie rods/ ball joints/ rotors/pads / wheel bearings over the last year. This just started. I have lubed every possible place that I cound imagine it could be coming from but it still persist. Any Ideas?
It happens while driving normally. Need not hit a bump. When you are sitting still you can turn the wheel back and forth and hear it.

If the noise you hear is a squeel and it's sounds behind the steering wheel it may be the speedometer cable, never had that problem with my Legend but with my Integra.

by the way...your sig does not work.

Use a hose.

Cut a piece of hose and use it to listen and pinpoint the noise, while someone turns the wheel. Just make sure you get someone that's trustworthy.

Sounds crazy, but I've done it before with success. And not having a mechanics expensive "lets replace this and see if it fixes it" solution.

The noise sounds like a creaky old rocking chair. It is coming from the suspension or steering mechanisim. I can not locate it. If you bounce the car when it is sitting still it sweaks like a door thats needs oil.

Coyote; I actually just had my upper control arm replaced a few months ago and my cv joint done about a month ago. Than I started to get the same problem. For me, it's coming from the front passenger side wheel. I put some Silicone spray on the upper control arm and it went away for a few days but came back. I am actually going to take it to my mechanic on Monday so he can put it on the lift and check it out. Does your son have Koni's on the car??

No... He has stock struts. They are old they have 100K on them. I am wondering if the there is a inner tie rod end. That seems to be the area it is coming from.

100% for sure it is the sway bar bushings. Been there done that. Do a search. The silcone grease dries up and it sounds like an old ford with a bad a-arm. Will take about 20 minutes a side to regrease and maybe $3 worth of silicone grease from Home Depot or Lowe's plumbing dept.

I Second CoyoteCoupe91, My 1994 does exactly the same, I thought it was the Brakes or something, because it does it everytime I brake a little hard (make the car nose dive kind of, not too hard.) I havent tried it yet, but I'll do it, hopefully it does fix it.

Wow hopefully that works. I was gonna take it to the shop today but I'll hold off until I try this out. I really hope that this works because it would save me a lot of money. Thanks for the help steve.
Just wanna make sure the sway bar bushings are right the bushings connected to the upper control arm? Sorry for the dumb question, I don't know a lot about cars but I'm trying to learn. Actually thinking about taking some Automotive classes at the local community college.

There is a detailed explantion if you do a search.

The front sway bar has 4 points of attachment. They are 2 u-clamps that hold it to the frame, and the outer attachments. It is the u-clamps that dry up. From memory only so there could be errors, I believe that the plastic splash pan has to come free, then you will see the u-clamps as they are annodized goldish in color. There are two fasteners for each clamp. When both clamps are free, you can push the rubber bushings off to one side or the other, grease the bar with SILICONE GREASE (not regular grease) and then slide the bushings back. Then bolt the clamps back on. It took me about 40 minutes, if that, to do both and it cured the noise. The noise moves along the bar and into the control arm so it is very hard to know where it comes from by listening. It sounds like the whole front end on one side has gone bad when that bushing grabs the sway bar.

Steve, I have found another source for the sqeaking noise that you and others have described. Where the lower control arm bolts to the crossmember, there is a "beam bracket" that has a large circular rubber bushing that the front tip of the LCA goes thru & bolts down. On my Sedan, that bracket has totally cracked & separated, allowing the LCA to move back and forth under load. My suspension guy and I finally found it today after greasing the sway bar bushings with Quickor Green Grease failed to stop the noise. So far, it doesn't appear that you can buy just the bushing although TRW shows it as a replaceable part in their catalog. Of course, the OEM Acura replacement part is hideously expensive ($315)---for a f@#king bracket!

I guess if I'm going to keep this money pit, I might as well replace both beam brackets as well as the stabilizer & sway bar bushings. Arrrrgh!
