Strut Bars

Sorry I know this topic has been done to death, but after reading other threads I am still confused.

So far this is what i picked up:
*Companies don't make strut bars specifically for Legends.
*I could get one custom made or 97' Prelude strut bars work also.

However, I still have questions:
*What brand of Prelude strut bars work the best?
*What needs to be done to modify these bars to fit G2 Legends?
(I understand that some bending is required)
*Does anyone have installation instructions?
(Lots of the links provided on other threads are dead)
*Do I have other options when it comes to getting a strut bar?

By the way, I have a 94' Legend ls. I would truly appriciate any help. Thanks everyone.

Get the ones on eBay from Procarparts.com. I got mine for $24 shipped. These seem to be the best since the bar is rectangular and not a full circle so it clears the engine better.

You will need to bolt the mounts to the strut bolts. You will most likely need to put 3 washers on the screw closest to the engine to lift the bar up a little to clear the engine. Put the bar one base and screw it on. Twist it so the bases go over the engine. You will understand when you see the actual strut bar. Do the same with the other side and bolt it on.

We tried to do one at the Legendary Legendz meet and I think some of the pictures are on the website when I was trying to put Leon's together. Check out www.legendarylegendz.com and go to the April meet.

Not really, the procarparts bars have more customability as far as bending the bases. Someone had a Neuspeed strut bar, but for $80, that is not worth the time in my opinion. When I installed my bar, I noticed a day and night difference in handling. I'm sure since my car does sit low, the body flex was getting unreal.

You might have trouble installing any kind of strut bar with the exception of the MLS and MLS copy that Fut has been making because of the A/C lines that run along the drivers side part of the engine.

Also, dont quote me on this but I think the coupe's structure is a little different from sedans. I was able to put my strut bar on with the directions I posted above. I was trying to install Leon's and no matter how I did it, the mounting points did not line up. Anyone have a successful installation with a coupe without any heavy modifications done to the strut bar? Also, Leon Millete I think has a shop taking the procarparts.com strut bars and modifying them a touch so they will fit really well for our car. This way its still cheaper than buying an MLS or MLS copy strut bar.

I hope this helps.

Leon,

You mean you will be doing a Procarparts.com group buy for strut bars? That would be awesome... $24 is a helluva deal for ANY strut bar, and if for a few bucks more I can get one for my Sedan that fits, well, YAY. How long we talking?

Thanks

-Sh0ck3d

PS: THANKS PATRICK! TONS OF GREAT INFO!

Actually, a strut bar designed FOR the coupe AND sedan...no more modifying necessary.

More details once the doorsill group buy is complete.
The Prelude strut bar is too much trouble to modify, as Patrick said....hell, I put a nice dent in my fender trying to bend the bar/mounts/anything!!! Patrick tried his best, and spent several hours trying to make it work...as his did. NOT GOOD!

So, Legendary Legendz will be teaming up with KMS to make strut bars for coupe/sedan. I will test fit them both to ensure less problems than the generic Lude one. Actually, NO problems...plug n play.

Stay tuned

The reason I didnt get into the "MLS COPY BAR" was because I was scared it wasnt gonna work.

However, if you insure that the Coupe ones will work (the ones you're designing), count me in for one GUARANTEED!

Leon,

Are you planning on making front and rear strut bars? Or just fronts?

Question

Leon,

Are you referring to the Prelude strut bars not installing properly?

Yes, we tried it on my coupe only...it was different from the ones you guys have. Round vs Flat.

Patrick put his own on, not much problem, NO luck on mine
