Suspension Questions??

Can the front spring and strut assembly be taken out and reinstalled by yourself? Or do you need help? I want to adj. my konis to lowest perch and i've already tried to compress the springs on the car w/ no dice..

Has anyone ever done this before? Seems rather simple. Let me know.....

it is rather simple. you remove the wheel, unbolt the part that holds the bottom of the shock in place, once that is free, the shock should be hanging there by itself (once you unbolt the brake lines and all that of course)

then, you unbolt the 3 bolts on the strut tower (leave the one in the middle)

that should release the whole assembly. then you use the spring compressor. after that, you unbolt that single bolt at the top, and remove the shock.

You will need a spring compressor. If you have not worked on suspensions before, and it appears this way, please keep in mind that a compressed spring is a lethal object waiting for a victim and it can kill if it slips or goes off on you. It can also do much damage to the car if it heads that way instead. Most spring compressors are designed to prevent accidents, however please be careful and take your time.

. What Joe said. It is easy.....just time consuming. I've taken off my suspension maybe 4 times since August, you'll memorize what to do by tha 2nd time. Tha last time I took em off, it took about 2 hours or so.......with a air impact gun

Peace

I just got a full set of Strut&Spring assemblies from a friend's dismantler yard. Is it easy to remove & replace as described above for both front and back ? Is re-alignment needed for this matter ?

I'm tackling the job tomorrow so any inputs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Frank.
