Tell us your experience with the Blackend Engine Dampner.

A 2nd GB will be taking place for the Blackend Engine Dampner and I may want to pick up one up. However I would first like to hear some testimonials from the members who got down of the first GB.

After the first sucessfull GB with its very impressive amount of sales, over 50 members participated, I figured I would have seen a few threads talking about positive or negative results of the newly introduced engine dampner.

If anyone has one of these installed please tell us what you think of the product.

Thanks

I appreciate the offer, however I work moday - friday in the Bronx at the New Yankee Stadium project. As you can imagine I face some very long days so if anything it would have to be on a weekend.

Additionaly, I will not be used to driving your car as I am sure there will be a differnece that only you would be able to detect.

Now, would you say that there was a noticable improvement in the way the car accelerates and shifts with this new dampner? I have herd that there have been a few problems with vibrations and other small problems associated with the stiffness and addjustability with the unit. What was your overall experinece and do you feel its worth the money?

Its a must have, with no problems, and a large noticeable difference.

With speculation of these engine dampers solving the inherent head gasket issue, I was hoping for a bit more feedback on this thread. I realize theres not much evidence but with performance advantages as well, thats two birds with one stone. And I like killing birds. Sickrick, can you elaborate more on the large noticeable difference you speak of?

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once

Definitely a must have. Throttle response is much improved. It takes a bit a work to get it properly adjusted and not rattle or cause vibration but once it's there, it's there. Don't know about it being a HG saver but I would definitely say it's a rear tranny mount saver. I installed my new poly RTM today and along with the damper, shifting is the smoothest I've ever experienced in an A/T Legend.

I def dont think this will solve any HG issues and whoever told you so is AFM! Throttle response is more realistic.

Thanks for some feedback. How hard and how much of a PITA is it to adjust the dampner?

So only 3 responses out of 50+ sales? I hope that the members who own this part have not yet seen this thread because silence is never a good sign.

I'd say it's definitely worth the money. Whenever I floor it from a complete stop, I would usually get some wheel hop but with the damper installed, it's non-existent. Also i do notice the Auto tranny does shift somewhat smoother, especially at the 1-2 shift (even with zero preload). As long as you have a buddy to help you, it shouldn't be a problem to install the damper as long as you are careful. The only problem is the amount of work space that you have to install the damper. It's really small and you can't afford to make any mistakes or else you might drop one of the bolts or nuts into the engine bay (like i did... ) It took me forever to retrieve the bolt from the engine bay. Now I still need to adjust the damper but i gotta go hunt for the right tools...

+1

It's worth the money.
Installation and adjustment is not so hard if you have the right tools.
I'm very satisfied with the product.
Otherwise there are lot's of infos in the original GB thread.

u really get wheel hop??? what are your mods? wheel hop is hard to get with the amount of torque a legend has and even more impressive if its on an auto..... u feel any differences while doing freeway speeds. never really launch the legend and i was wondering if any improvements were felt at highway speeds.
