I mightbe interested if it makes the 1-2 shift smoother and a major diff on the highway....... but what is the actual purpose of the damper?

I was trying to stay out of this thread, but this question needs to be answered from the source IMO. The actual purpose is to reduce drivtrain power loss by keeping the engine still and transferring all that power directly into the drivetrain. When the engine rocks in the stock mounts, that is torque loss. Not only do you lose useable power, you're adding stress onto the engine and transmission mounts. With the damper installed, you can dial in how much you want the engine to move, and as a result, how much of that power you want to get back headed to the wheels. What you get is increased throttle response, longer life on mounts, easier shifts since there is no rocking of the engine that would cause driveline shocks, and some added "bling" factor to your engine bay...who doesn't want a little bling every now and then?

Dad and I installed mine this past weekend. Unfortunately it rattles like crazy whenever there isn't a load on the engine (idle, coasting). I'll work on tightening it up in the near future.

Speaking of mounting... is there a stock location for it, or do you have drill holes for mounting? I noticed from a pic it's on the drivers side near the firewall. There doesn't seem to be a lot of space as is. Does it come with instructions for installing. I'm leaning more and more towards getting one, especially if it smooths out that 1-2 shift. (I already did a 4x flush and changed the rear tranny mount, and those helped alot, but it's still shifting more noticably than I think it should.)

it comes with detailed instructions. Also there is a DIY posted. IMO there is plenty of room for it

Definitely recommend it. When you start the engine the movement is drastiscally reduced. It FEELS like I have better throttle response. It could all be in the head but I know for sure it'll help prolong some of the mounts

Question....if it works best in the hard settings as far as less vibrations and more power then what's the point of adjustability?? Of if anything have some stuff at different fixed settings where they can sell at different prices but imo I would adjust to get the most out of it....are there any drawbacks btw

Manuals will notice a bigger difference than automatic guys I think, at least on the throttle response side.

It's nearly instantaneous now...

I don't care for throttle response I really care more for engine smoothness and the 1-2 shift smoothness as to what I've heard

I don't have one, but I've seen one in person...in Blackend's hand, no less...and the build quality is VERY good. This isn't a thrown-together backyard project. It really looks like a quality engineered product.

Oops. I guess i was on some serious crack that night . I meant to say that the wheels sorta slip, like a burnout for 1-2 seconds, whenever i floor it (just all gas from normal idle, not using the brakes to raise the RPM's in D4) but with the damper installed, the legend just accelerate instantaneous when you floor it. And from what i read, the 2nd gb for the damper gets free poly bushings so if your legend is really that powerful then those should be enough to tame that beast. As for launching to highway speed, I only feel the difference at the 1-2 shift because by the time i get to 2nd gear, i pay more attention to the road and the surroundings rather the the feeling of the car. Oh and just for the record, the car is pure stock. So my perception on the damper is pretty limited compared to other moded out legends but really though, the more performance mods you have the more benefits you'll have/feel.
