Tilt Steering Wheel??

Does your 91 Legend have tilt steering?

What years had it and what years did not?

For sedans '94-'95 had power/memory tilt and telescope. The '91-'93 only had telescope. Not sure about coupes.

Same for coupes. My first one only had telescoping, my current one has the auto tile away! --=Keith

yeah, my brothers 94 has the power steering ummm electronic tilt/telescope i mean. I just have the manual level you pull and it moves the steering up and down but not closer or away from the driver.

Can that be added or the whole steering colum needs to change?

I think the whole steering column would have to be replaced.
If not, it would still be a very expensive mod.

Do you mean in and out and not up and down? Cause up/down is tilt, which we don't have.

You have to change out at least the whole steering column, and I don't know what all the other electronic controlls would need to be changed as well. Anyway, the dealer quoted me about $3500 for the steering column when my 95 one was acting up. That was just for the parts. Obviously I just continued to do the reset band aid fix every month or two.

Hmm... how about getting a used steering column from a wrecked/salvaged 94-95?
Would the Helm's manual show where the rest of the parts for the swap are located? Does anyone know if the memory module is the same for all years?

The parts - at least the column itself ran @ $2200 here a few years ago. I don't know what else would be needed, but they replaced my entire column under the extended warranty when the tilt/telescope acted up on my 94.

There would have to be some electronics too - the switch on the side of the column (inside the car), the relays too, and I don't know what else.

I'm guessing the seat position memory module would be different because the tilt/telescope position is tied into the seat position memory setting.

Yeah, but that should only be a clip or something right?

Clip? You mean like just plug in a harness? I don't know. I'm not sure if the earlier memory modules had the capability of memorizing the tilt/telescope functions being that they weren't available in the earlier cars.

Easiest way to know is to compare part numbers.
