Thumbs up Trouble Starting the Car

I recently bought the 1992 legend sedan and i changed its battery to a new one. From there on the car turned on but after a day or two it turned off i got a new battery and all new end terminals and the same situation happened. in order to turn on you need to jump start it. Please any one help and add your opinion. holla

Either your alternator belt broke, alternator itself isn't charging or the alternator fuse blew out!

Are you saying you can jump start it and it will run long enough to drive wherever you want? In that case, there's no way the alternator is bad, because the car wouldn't run longer than an hour or so.

Actually the alternator could still be bad in that scenario. Ever heard of undercharging. Undercharging is a situation where the alternator does not produce enough power to charge the battery but it does produce enough to run the car.

Yeah, it could be that too. But, do you realize you said that the alternator belt broke or wasn't charging or the fuse blew? Sure undercharging will affect the situation but you didn't mention undercharging, you were talking about the alternator not charging at all, in which case the problem would happen instantly instead of over a few days. It could be alot of other problems too, such as parasitic drain.

Well, what I meant was the alternator not charging the battery. Just cause it's not charging the battery doesn't mean it's not keeping the car going. I just used the wrong words. I have a habbit of doing that and that's why I get corrected a lot.
