Yes and that was what I was trying to point out earlier on, the speedometers often goes way beyond what the car can reach with a speed limiter or without.
Talking about that Mustang I don't know anything about it, but in general the speedometer always goes higher than the actual speed the vehicle can reach.
And this thread got to here because I noticed the speedometer in this car which only goes to 190kph/118mph and I asked a question about why this was like that in the JDM, then jdmisme tried to answer me and he misunderstood some of what I was trying to say and I might have misunderstood some of what he said and here we are...
He he he.
But it's just a fact that good GPS's with high update speed is much more accurate than the speedometer in a car and especially in the older cars.

I know several mustangs that go faster then their speedometer reads, hell, go back to the 70's muscle cars. Those cars had speedos that topped at 120 but they could pull so much further then that.
Well, he did specify that that is how he thinks it works in Europe, not the U.S.. Also, trying to compare 70's muscle cars that use cable driven speedometers to modern ECU operated vehicles using speed sensors (VSS) kind of brings it out of perspective a bit.

I agree with the initial misunderstanding part but it's all good. We're just giving our gray matter a good workout concerning something that none of us seem to have concrete info about...we're just hashing it out.... And I also agree....we kind-sorta hijacked the thread.

Sorry bout that. NOW, I'll get some sleep.

I'll end it here, as far as I know the Legends are known to have an inaccurate speedo, I'm not talking about mustangs or other cars for that matter. What I tried to point out is that a super high quality car with all the luxury stuff of it's time should be pretty close to the actual top speed of the car itself as far as the speedo goes, so before I got the fact that the JDM Legend had a speed limiter I couldn't quite make it fit.
I'm not saying all Legends are inaccurate but some are(remember how old this car is and how likely it is to have worn parts sensors as well) and I have never mentioned anything about other cars at all.
It was just a question of the logic in an almost identical car having such a low top point at the speedo compared to the US and European models.

lol...been there...I know how it is! Rotating in October are you? I'm sure all the guys here at a-l.com would love it if you parted your legend out rather than selling it or scrapping it on Foster...

I'm sure the armed forces you belong to would be more than happy to help you get it back to the states.....you should bring it back, or at least part it out and ship the JDM parts back to the states so u can buy a USDM coupe here and have the parts waiting for ya

swap the odometer. It pops right out with a couple of screws. Now the digital trip meter, not sure...

Looks great though, wish ours came like that. The only thing missing is the oil pressure meter and the battery voltage meter.
