Two Questions re: Temp Gauge and AC - 94 LS Coupe

Hello, I am not a car fix it guy, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Situation & Question #1 - I had a problem with a blown HG. It is fixed, but my temp gauge, after the car has been running 6 or 7 minutes, shows it pegged hot. The thing is, it is not hot, even after driving it for 30 minutes. I can touch the RAD cap and hose with my bare hand. What's up and, more importantly, what needs to be fixed and how much will it run me to get it fixed at a shop?

Situation & Question #2 - If I am not mistaken, before the HG problem, my AC worked OK. Did not run super cold, but was OK. Now, with the dial on 60 degreees, the fan blows, but not cold at all. It is maybe slighty cool, but 75 degrees at best. Your thoughts? What should I do?

Many, Many thanks from a new guy.

After I run mine for 30 minutes, the rad cap and top rad hose are quite hot. And they should be. I am wondering how hot yours are. You say you can touch them, but that doesn't tell us enough.

Does the car have enough coolant? Is the belt that drives the AC comp. tight enough?

Give us more to go on...

The cap and hose are hot, I just meant nothing like the boiling hot like when the HG was F'd up.

I will check the belt. Thanks!

Castlecg, check the temperature gauge sender which is located near the throtle body housing. If you disconnect the plug to the sensor the temp gauge will peg all the way to hot. Maybe your connector is loose or that the sender/sensor is bad.
