Underside of hood

Have any of you ripped out the insulation from the underside of the hood? I did it because I just couldnt stand having it on there. My question or idea is, (Now that the insulation is out of the way) to paint the sectional areas, 11 in all, a different color other than the stock white. Do you think this would look alright, or would you just keep it stock and not mess with it?

You cut out pieces of mirrors and put it in those sections. I'm about to do that when I find enough glass mirrors and a person who can cut it.

Why was the insulation put in there? I assume it is fire retardant, or it um i dunno. Keeps the heat in, but wouldnt that be a bad thing? So there is no problem with taking it out, no risks?

What would be a strong adhesive to hold that there?

i think using mirror reflective foil would be better than actual mirrors. if you drop your hood those mirrors could break or chip and look like total crap. and for the tv's..those look damn cool. hardly safe but total show i took insulation off because with it off..my hood struts stayed up

I am gonna take it off, cuz it rubs against my painted covers, and on the fuse box it keeps on scratching it.

If you are going to use mirrors under the hood, use plexi glass mirrirs insteadof glass ones. It wont break but looks just like a glass mirror. It is lighter as well.

BUUTTTTTT.......

..........for those with darker cars, I will suggest that you keep it on because it is a heat insulator that prevents your hood from getting too hot which in return (after a while) fades your paint. This isn't noticable on lighter cars.

I think you all completely missed the main reason that stuff is on the hood ... it is engine noise insulation !

It really is.

I hope some of your "answers" were jokes ... they made me laugh !

i have a lighter color, so now i feel better about taking it off. i wanted to, but someone told me that along with fading the paint, it may warp our hoods. what up with that? has anyone have theirs taken off for a long time?

smoov, thanks for the idea! teevees would be bad a$$! nopi here i come!

Unfortunately they probably weren't jokes.
