You're getting a great price for all of that work - I suspect that I'd easily pay twice that here in Alabama. Of course, there are so many rust-free bodies down here that nobody would ever go through that effort. Anyway, I hope the surgeons get all of it and it turns out good as new. Looking forward to seeing the "after" pics...

Rust & body work

Didn't read all the replies, but it looks like people hipped you to the likelihood that you got a decent price for that much work. I had similar work done to a '77 Cutlass Supreme some time in '83. There was rust-thru at the bottom of the door panels, and the truck lid as well as the door window sills (typical for Cutlass'). The shop cut out the rust and welded-in new steel, replaced the sills, and repainted the whole sides and trunk lid, only leaving the hood and roof unpainted. Then they replaced the pin stripes with tape. So not quite the same as you, but pretty similar scope and scale of work, and it was about $900 back then. Good work, but kinda spendy (thanks, Dad). Only kept the car a couple years after that, so I don't know how it lasted.

But that rust looks like the kind of salt rust we get here in Wisco. So you gots to make sure your drain holes are clean and all the gunk underneath in the flanges needs to be cleaned out so the car drains as well as it can.

Lucklily I bought my car from New Mexico where they don't use salt, but I'm trying to keep it rust free. So I appreciate your efforts.

Appreciate that, thanks. Which drain holes are we talking about here ? I was unaware of such drain holes..

Further, pearl paint is very costly. This also adds to the price. and my quote was in CAD.

if i were you i would lift up the carpet and check the floor for rust because it seems that your car has a very bad rust problem. Also is there a rust problem in the engine bay? My friend had a acura legend with a bad rust problem that he tried to fix and his engine ended up falling out the car to the floor.
