What do I need - Swap out Type I for Type II Components

I am reading a bunch of conflicting info. If I simply add the Type II cams and Intake to my Type I, will I have any issues?

I see info regarding transmission, Type I ECU with Type II profiles and a ton of other stuff.

Not messing with any chipping or ECU mods, If I had a Type II engine to part from, what should grab off of it?

This is for an automatic btw. Also does the Type II instrument cluster work properly (plug-n-play) to the Type I?

Thanks

The clusters are pnp, if you change just the IM all that's required is deleting the "pair system." If you add cams and heads, the type I ecu needs to be chipped.

Sounds good, I'll grab the IM and cluster. Since I just did my HG, I don't want to swap out too much just yet , and I would need a chip anyway.

Thanks

That was disappointing, although it was a 95 sedan, it was not a Type II. I have only seen a single Type II at my local yard. When I came back for it a few days later the whole car was gone. I'll find one eventually

The GS sedan is the only one that was type II. I know what you mean, I saw a pretty ass blk/blk GS. I went back the next day and it was gone! The interior and outside was flawless!

Yeah very frustrating. Last night I found out one of my clients has been the sole owner of 91 coupe. It has a type II engine, so I think it had to be at least a 93? It was dark so I couldn't get a better look and verify the year.

Funny story - known this guy for a year, and the whole time this car has been in the shop. He was waiting for his mechanic buddy to get out of jail (6 mos) so he could finish it up and get it back, before then it was being re-upholstered.

I guess when the time is right, I will find my Type II.
