I'm running 17x8 with +45 offset and 225/45/17 and it's pushing it. I can't go any wider on tires without making modifications.

If you want to run 17x8, you'll need a REALLY high offset like +55 and maybe fender modifications.

it's not 17x8 but 17x7.5 - 42 offset with 215/40/17

hard to say... not all tire widths are the same from mfg to mfg...

you could run 235s or 245s with the proper offset and wheel width...

but why do you need such a wide tire width for?

245s are going to balloon on 8" wide wheels. thats the minimum requirement to fit 245s

and since you're putting them on 17s... its just going to make the wheel look smaller.

i had 225s on 8" and thought it was a good fit. i lived with it but i really wanted something skinnier.

really o ok, to be honest i want to go that wide because i want it to hook offline as best as possible besides the use of slicks

ur prolly right about it ballooning, my frend has 17 by 8 wheels and hes about to get 245 Ill c how they look

thanks for the info by the way

for track racing? maybe 2 front wheels & tires would be possible for when you need them.

remember... wider wheels = higher rolling resistance = worse mpg

1/4 mile track racing plus just being able to do it on the street in some spirited driving.

im not to worried about gas mileage, even thought gas is ridiculous right now

so i still wanna be able to get 245 lol maybe some 8.5 or 9 inch rims, nah thats prolly impossible with this car

I just hate it when im driving my frends 6 speed or my other frends 5 speed legends its so easy to lose grip especially shifting to 2nd thats why i want some wide sticky tires lol cuz that lost traction is just lost time in the 1/4 mile

umm no.....on my 03 maxima I ran 245/45/17's on a 7.5" wide wheel and auto-x'd it PLENTY of times.....I had no issues...and plenty of people ran the same size tire on stock 17x7 wheels without issue

just because you did it doesn't make it right or fact....225's are WAYYYY too skinny for an 8" wide wheel..8" wide wheels require a minimum of a 245 tire....if you run any skinnier you risk personal injury to urself and ur ride. Unless you are going for that VIP look, but then you wouldnt be running an 8" wide rim now would you

good for you... "just because you did it doesn't make it right or fact" (same spoken for you buddy)

Tire Specs for Avon Tech M550 A/S

go there look up 225/40/18 and cross check what the rec. rim width is...

same tires I had.

then eat up your words.

risk personal injury... yeah sure.

oh no wait... maybe avon tires is out there to kill us...

just in case...

Tire Specs for Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R

bridgestone RE-01R 225/40/18 also

BUT WAIT!

heres the icing on the cake...

to prove you totally wrong

BFG KDW2s

Tire Specs for BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

look up 215/40/18

and then read me the recommended rim width range... 7-8.5? did it really say that??

a 215 can fit up to an 8.5" tire... but i would be risking my life cause tire mfgs wanted me to right?

yeah...

anyhow... you sir are a complete moron... if you've even seen what 225s look like on an 8" width rim... you'd know that it was far from stretched.

i dear hope to god... that no one else comes to you for any tire recommendations... or any knowledge thereof in that case.

well one day you'll understand where i come from.. there's a proper way to go about disagreeing with someones statement... act more in a civilized manner.. w/o jumping down on someone...

you've already proven that you have no etiquette whatsoever with your history on these forums...
