I dont think Acura gives you "enough" car for the money they want. Yeah the RL has nice technology but other car companies give you a "better look" for the money. The should make a car higher than the RL. It doesn't have flagship character.

when you say enough car do you mean size?

50k gets me a loaded Acura, a factory stripped GS, or not even into a 5 series and nowhere near an E class.

The RL is similar in size to its competition the GS/5 series/E class.

Flagship character? just what is that exactly? I'd say the RL is bearing the Acura flag better than the Phaeton did for VW.

Dont get me wrong its a nice car and all but, it doesnt have flagship character. When i say that, i mean its just alittle bland. I dont know all the spec's off the top of my head, but it still has a V6 and under 300 hp. I personally dont speed like i used to, but the car has no bragging rights. For
50k I cant buy an RL! I would by the new RL if i could get it for 30-35k. It definitely does a better job of being a flagship than a Phaeton but its a VW! who buy a "luxury car" from VW? Something must be wrong if they cant move units. Even when people are broke, if they really like a car they will get it.

I just built one online and i almost hit 60k! 57,XXX!!!?

Honda/Acura has a penchant for designing vehicles that are somewhat bland in styling to keep from offending their customers.

Lexus does this ALL THE TIME with their cars. However, their new L-Finesse design philosophy is pretty tasty.

I will admit that there is a lot of hand holding being done by Honda, but they could stand to let Acura designers roam free when it comes to the designs and underpinnings of their vehicles.

BUT....Honda keeps overall design costs low buy using the same or slightly modified frames for their cars. Which might be why we see Honda/Acura as a value brand.

to be quite honest...maybe 3-5 weeks after it was introduced, i actually started liking the ASC concept way back when...you know the one that was supposed to be reminiscent of a yacht..

took a while but after i understood it, it actually is kinda interesting...i still hate the boat-tail rear end though.

it doesn't matter how ugly it is, people will buy it if it is well marketed. but Acura doesn't sell RLs. if you wanna buy one, it's there on the lot. and if your on the lot and have never seen one before, it's not likely to GRAB your attention. all it's pro's are in the details, and can't seen or understood at a glance.

I was at the dealer last week, asked about his rl customers last year. all that the ones he moved were to previous RL owners. the Legend would attract people who have never seen it before, but RLs have always been more subdued than their patriarch.

we really don't know how well the RL can sell, because no ones really SELLING it.

I agree they dont market it well but if they car had more appeal, it would sell itself. Dont get me wrong i like the new RL, i wanna get one. I just will NEVER pay almost 60 for it.

If you take the RL that is most commonly bought which is either the base or the '08 RL with the tech package, it is competitively priced with the GS350 but that's not what the car was being compared to initially.

Initially, it was being compared to its V8 counterparts, which if you had the 50k to go in and buy right now, you wouldn't be able to. GS460 starts at $53k, you can't even get into an E-class with 50k, You can get into a 528 for 50k but after options it's a wrap son!

RL you drop your 50k, grab the keys and go...it's about value..which is why you can get a combo at wendy's. It's cheaper to get the burger, fries and coke even if you don't want the fries.

Are u kidding me !!!! who told you that? you can get about 4k off MSRP on the 08 350 and MSRP on the 460 cause the dealer hardly have them.

why would they take off MSRP when they don't have the car? That would imply that they are selling them faster than they can get them, thus causing the dealer to RAISE the price of the car.

That's what I would do.
