Telion VS SR5guy VS Stock ECU
As some may know I have been trading ECUs for the past 6 months and trying everything.
First I bought the Telion type 1 chip. I received another ECU ready to install. I imeediatly installed it and went for a drive. Power was everywhere. Later on I began to notice some strange events. I was filling up more and I stalled 3 times at start up... Telion has agree to send out an updated chip for further testing.
Next I swapped my Stock ECU back in for some control testing... everything went back to normal.
Recently i purchased an SR5guy Stage 3 chip. again imeadiatly installed it and went for a test drive. it was a bit rainy so I was hesitant to put it to the floor. The basis behind the SR5guy chip is orginal software from Dinan then Bayou and finally modified from SR5guy. The Stage 3 requires an intake and exhust. I was worried that this chip would again cause problems with things so i left it in for my trip to south carolina and back (1300 miles) if it can with stand this its good. Success Many got txts and ims tonight about it....
Engine MODS:
-Injen SHORT ram intake
-Remus legend specific CAT back
-NGK platnum plugs
-Mobil 1 synthetic
-Custom www.legendtunner.com Grounding kit
-I also have Type 1 and a electronically controlled 4 speed auto that was the only option for the SE
How they stack up.
Gas Millage: (mind you i have a Type 1 AUTO)
city, Highway, combined (spirited driving)
Stock - 20 23 21
Telion - 17 19 18
SR5guy- 21 26 23
Proof of 26mpg
yup thats 260 miles on a haft a tank. Filling up soon after was 264 miles at 10.11 gallons
Butt Dyno:
Stock....... you have your own test results for this....
Telion - Allot of power coming from the engine. First pedal to the floor left a bit of rubber on the road. The delay from the short ram was eliminated however I feel as if some was taken from the mid and high range.
SR5guy - The power seems to be a bit more refined then the telion chip. whether its less or just more evenly placed across the band. However if you want to be put back in your seat it will deffinatly do this. Also if you like the sound of your engine you will enjoy this.
Dyno tests:
Will be done in a few weeks from now so just hang tight
Final verdict: (subject to change with dyno results)
Stock... isn't if obvious it should be replaced...
Telion... testing of the upgrade will prove its not so rich but powerful.

sweet finally a telion vs sr5guy dyno battle haha make sure you do it on a dynojet dyno and print legible graphs with air fuel ratio included. Im excited to see the results! As far as the regular bayou chip goes.. all they did was add a little timing if i remember correctly so just because your chip says "bayou" on it doesn't necessarily mean its better then the other chips.

That is the chip I run and the only chip I will run until I see reason to do otherwise. Made by a proven company in Dinan, it seems still the best option to me.
I am not putting down Matt or Telion, just stating my preference.
Im not sure if you read but Matts chip is based off the Dinan / Bayou chip....

This is very interesting and I strongly believe that competition is a very powerful thing and it makes the businessmen of these chips step up their game. However, it depends on preference and experience, I love puma and you may like Nike, it depends on what we like our cars to feel like… I am all up for trying SR’s Chip, however, I am having a wonderful experience with T’s chip and that is something that I have expressed to him….
Yes, Gas mileage is an important issue especially with the increase in price, no doubt about it, which I am sure that is something that T will work on, however, you would have to feel what his chip does for the car in order to make your own decision.
I have PM’s SR to see if I am able to purchase a chipped ECU from him to also be able to do a comparison. No matter what, T’s chip is 100 times better then stock, something for which I will bet on….
Again, this is a very interesting thread and would love to know and feel the comparison myself….

Step it up Matt!!!! I'm loving your chip. I know you've been through a lot of junk the past year(s). If I do any more mods I'll be looking you up for the stage3.
Nice to know I'm getting better mpg. Unfortunately, I've gone from doing mostly highway to now mostly city. Your results look spot on for what I was getting with the stock chip.

First of all, thank you for doing this bboarder. It's awesome on ANY forum to see someone giving to the community, even at a cost of their own. I'm sure purchasing all the chips, the dyno time, and all of your time isn't cheap, so thank you!
It's awesome that you're doing a full comparison with benefits in each area of interest (performance throughout the powerband, mpg, reliablility, cost, shifts).
