Question Dash kit for 2-DIN unit in a 1990

Say I want to mount a 2-din HU in my 1990L non-bose.
What's the best OEM looking dash kit out there?

Best looking? All you see after the install is the trim piece...mine came w/my double-din, looks fine.

Question

It appears that I need an adapter (dash kit) to fit a DD stereo.
Is this true?

I believe the Metra and Scosche kits come with a variety of different stuff so you can mix and match to see what fits best for your application.

What type of headunit are you installing?

If its an OEM 2 din from a G1 TL then you don't need a kit. It should drop right in.

If its an aftermarket 2 DIN, then it should have come with a cage and a trim ring. You can find trim rings for specific brands on eBay for $20. '

Metra and Scosche work best with 1 DIN HUs. If you want to save money, you can get the regular Metra/Scosche dash kit for Honda/Acura (liek the one posted by Ophidian) and cut away the excess parts to make a trim ring yourself.

If understand correctly, this kit is speced for 1990-1996 Acura Legend.
For some reason both Metra and Scosche are under impression that 1st Generation legend is 1986-1989 and 2nd Generation Legend is 1990-1996 which makes me think that the above kit is for 2nd Generation Legend... that is why I'm asking if you or anybody know in reality that this kit will fit?

Thumbs up

So... after doing some research, it appears that for single and double din, Metra Kits for early 90s Accords fit the best. You have to cut the back of the frame a bit to clear and get rid of a few clips, but the in the end the fit is quite good.
The oem remote control buttons on the right side of the instrument cluster are easily integrated with a PAC module.
