Glass-mount or concealed antenna mod?

I want to shave off my stock radio antenna from my 2nd gen. Legend coupe. Ive looked at antenna options such as those pictured below for a while but I still have my concerns about their effectiveness. Im sure someone else on the forum has thought of, researched, and/or tried these already.

glassmount ($15-20)

hide-away ($40)

signal amplifier ($12-15)

It doesnt seem like the glassmount works too well from the reviews I've read online, and I read mixed info about what the signal amplifier really does. One idea is getting 2 of the hideaway antennas and bridging them to the radio antenna output with a splitter, then installing them inside the side mirrors, if space allows, to keep them away from the metal car frame which can interfere with the radio signal.

Share your thoughts and knowledge.

On my G1 i bought an adapter to use to hook up my aftermarket head unit to the antenna inside the rear windshield. The reception seems to be fine.

The rear antenna alone doesnt get clear enough reception for me. What did you hook up to yours?

nothing? I guess the reception could be better (I listen to college radio stations pretty often). I got sick of dealing with my broken power antenna so i just chose to do this.

HIDDEN ANTENNA'S

I was just looking for this on google. A guy I knew shaved his antenna off his 2G LEGEND COUPE. It just took years off his car... His reception wasn't to bad but then the standard antenna wasn't much better. The way I see it, It will get some static at sometime just try it and see if it works good enough for you. At a price under $50.00. You can't really lose...

Ive actually left the antenna connected to the motor because the reception is worse without it, even though its fully retracted. I just rather get all the opinions I can before spending $50 on something that might not work. $50 is $50.

Do you have a stock deck or aftermarket?
If aftermarket, did you get the adapter and hook up to the glass antenna? It is the smaller plug.
I have mine hooked up this way, works great.

You can do what I did, spend $20 and get a manual antenna. It wont go up and down when you turn your car or radio on/off, but it doesn't have a noisy motor that will break. It's the cheapest option ... and your radio reception will inprove.

Depending where you live, the distance to the radio stations you listen to, mountains or tall buildings ( in the city ) that can block signals, etc, the no antenna/short antenna may be ok. It really depends how often you listen to the radio and how demanding you are. Good luck.
