well..what features does your car have? auto climate control or do you have the knob?? and as far as the speaker thing..if you want to upgrade..just get a better pair of 6x9 and a good pair of 6.5 for the fron and wire them up to a good amp and your good to go...

Just type your Vin # into the Yahoo Search Engine (other search engines may work too). It will being a link to Carfax. Click that link and it will give you basic vehicle data for free.
For Example when I typed mine in to Yahoo Search and clicked the Carfax link: VIN JH4KA7670MC024224 Year/Make/Model: 1991 ACURA LEGEND LS Body Style: SEDAN 4 DR Engine Type: 3.2L V6 PFI SOHC 24V Manufactured In: JAPAN Or look under the Newbie Thread (sticky). You can get your answer there, by which standard/optional features the car has. For example, Light and Temperature Sensitive Automatic Climate Control was standard for the LS. Newbie FAQ .

I have a mildly built system that cost to the tune of about $1500... I did a few things "wrong" and could've saved here and there but that's a different story.
I'm of the opinion that unless you're ready to spend at least $1k at bargain prices (closer to $1500-2000 list), I think you should stick to stock gear. Anything less and I feel you're getting less sound quality than you had to begin with: the Bose systems in the Legend were quite impressive for their age (if in good repair.) My lessons learned? Run LARGE gauge wire for your amps: I ran 8awg and really, I should've run 4awg or bigger because I'd like another amp and don't have the capacity on my 8awg line. Also, I have a stiffening cap on that line which I think wouldn't be as critical with an adequately sized power line. From now on, I'm never dealing with anything smaller that 4awg to amps and probably only larger still wire between the distribution block and the battery. I prefer to run without rear fill. Determine your preference up front and build accordingly: if you can save money on not buying rear speakers then you have coin for nicer gear in the front. ALWAYS amplify your components: even if you think the head unit is loud enough, eventually, it no longer will be.
