Unhappy HELP!!! weird problem... FIXED!

Hey everyone... I'm new to this forum, just bought a 1992 L sedan and installed new speakers with the stock deck. I have the Bose 2200 and Panasonic CJ-DA6910's in the rear and the CJ-D1600's in the front. When I set the balance all the way to the right or all the way to the left I get really good highs and bass, but when I have everything balanced, I still get good highs but the bass is flat. I don't really know if it did this with the stock speakers, because one of the rears was busted when I got the car and the other 3 were pretty bad off so there wasn't much bass anyway. I thought it could have been a phase problem, but I got the little speaker wiring harnesses from Circuit City and installed them correctly (pos. to pos. and neg. to neg.) so what could it be? Could it be that the stock amp isn't powerful enough to play all 4 but it is fine for 2? That's the only thing I can think of other than a phase problem, but it can't be that because I used the adapters... HELP!

*edit*

I fixed it! Turns out the speakers were out of phase... but that's weird. I wonder why they would switch the pos. and neg. terminals on the harnesses from the driver's side to the passenger's side... anyway, I was really annoyed about this problem and i went outside at 5:30 in the morning and played with my speakers... got some wire and switched the pos. and neg. on the passenger's side rear speaker and BOOM!! Got bass! So I made it permanet and did the same to the passenger's door speaker in the front and now my system sounds great! Bass sounds like I have subs, but without the rattles, and highs still sound good. Also seems to have better stereo imaging... so if any of you guys have this problem you know what to do.
