hooking up aftermarket stereo!

I want to hook up an aftermarket amp to the oem wiring in the rear seat off the oem bose amp harness. I wanted to know if I could tap the remote wire off the amp to the power antenna lead w/o causing the power antenna to go up everytime that my amp turns on. I don't want the remote control car look while listening to cds. If anyone knows what I mean, give me a holla, thanks,B.

Since the stock deck only has that one remote turn on which controls both the amp and antenna, it is not easy to do. Your best bet is to buy a Smartenna (Originally designed for the NSX, but latter offered for the Legend). I'm not sure where to buy it, but many Legend owners here bought one. It was designed by an NSX owner for the NSX so NSX Prime has an FAQ on it. It latter was found it works on the Legend as well.

just a thought, if u dont wna spend money but hav extra wire(remote wire) try this.
take one side of ure wire to your cigarette lighter terminal( if u look from the back there is 2 terminal + and - and drag it all da way to ure att. this way ure att only goes up when u have the key turned, and off when the keys off.

cig (+)terminal -> AMP
OR
cig (+)terminal -> ATT

either you tap it off da att or cig lighter way it still be the same, feeding +-12 volts.... just a thougth

The problem with this is the atenna will go up everytime he turns the ignition on just as it would normally, but still stay up when he listens to CDs. Regardless if it is the stock amp or aftermarket amp, he wants the antenna to go down when he switches off the radio to CD. To do this the antenna needs to know when it is not needed and when the CD is being used. That is where the smartenna comes into play. It hooks up between the CD changer DIN plug and the cars DIN extension. Through the CDs input signal wires or M-Bus data it senses the CD and lowers the antenna.

to make things clear of my idea, if u hook up the wire to the AMP(from cig), the amp only goes on when you have the key turned(b4 ACC,or when ever the radio goes on). SO, if he decides to play a cd, the ATT will go down BUT the AMP wont shut off unless the key is out of da ignition, but the amp will stay on even the radio is off

EDIT: i dont think he will mind the amp being on even he doesnt listen to music and PLUS it only costs few feet of +-12awg(?) wire
again, just a thought, if hes willing to spend money, smartenna is the way to go, but if hes not then...my way is to go

I think I need to be a little more clear as well. He is using the stock BOSE Legend headunit with a CD changer through the stock BOSE headunit. He can't play the CD changer without the headunit being on. In order for the headunit to be on, the ignition switch has to be at least in the ACC (1st click on the ignition switch) position. This will power up the radio as well as the Cigg lighter. The stock headunit does not lower the antenna even if the stock CD changer is being listened to. What he wants to do is have the antenna lower when he switches to the CD changer.

From my understanding of your theory, you hook up the amp seperately from the antenna turn on lead right? YOu do this by using another ACC source. This will power up the amp independently from the antenna. The problem is the antenna is controlled by the headunit. The only way the antenna lowers if when the headunit is turned off or does not have power as is in the case if you turn of the ingition and remove the keys. The problem with this is you can't listen to the CD changer if the headunit is turned off. Unless I'm missing a step in your mentond?

Remember, the Legend headunit is not like many aftermarket headunits of today where it automatically lowers the antenna when you switch to the CD or CD changer input on the deck.
