I have a idea for a stereo

It came to me in a dream (last night haha). I was thinking of completely sealing off the trunk of the legend and have 1-3 subs firing at the backseat and build a "wall" around the subs to seal it off.

My only question is, how will this sound? will it work? how big is the legend trunk with nothing in it? My other concern is since I won't be able to use stock carpeting, is there a carpet that would work like the OEM trunk carpet and form and fit shapes, or does nothing like that exist. Better yet is there anything like that in leather

it will look cool. be a TON of work. and more than likely sound like ass.

the best sounding set ups, and the best looking set ups. are usually not related.

I'm also looking for these little shocks. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...d/fab11aec.jpg

Anyone know what size or what brand etc? I really want to eliminate the bars that currently raise the trunk lid.

haha yah i have done something like this. no offense taken.

and it will sound like ass, from an SQ standpoint.

with a box like that, you're more building it to fit into a space. rather than concentrating on the internal dimensions, which are the only real tool in tuning a box.

i didn't mean to seem like a jerk and shoot down your idea.. a set up like you described can pull some amazing SPL numbers. however actual listenability will be out the window.

its quality over quantity. a few guys will vouch that i know a bit about systems.

well currently I have a single 12 in a sealed custom box (to spec) and it sounds good but it seems like it needs more air. I was gonna go ported but I might go seal the whole trunk with dynamat and see where I am when the dust settles. If I knew the trunk dimensions when gutted I could make it ported into the cabin like a trunk I've seen on here before. Any idea where to get the little shock at?

Tough question. Both (facing forward and facing back) can sound good, but if the subs face forward, everything has to be perfect. The box airspace has to be perfect, the subs must be well powered, and the crossover points on the amplifier have to be set exactly perfect, and most importantly, the box MUST be sealed off from the trunk. Unfortunately If any of these variables are wrong, you will be able to hear distortion, and you will lose output.

Look at some of the dips and valleys in these tests this guy did. It is a good visual reference for what you can expect if everything isn't perfect. The green traces are facing forward, the purple backwards.

Aiming Part 2

As far as carpet goes, it shouldn't be too hard to find. I get my carpet from an auto upholstry shop down the road from me. Any good upholstry shop should be able to match it up the Legend carpet pretty well.

Istead of using leather, Vinyl looks almost the same at a quarter of the price.

How about suede? I've always thought it looked nice and classy, perfect for a Legend

Infinite baffle alignments are well renown sq enclosures.

IB enclosures drop enclosure q to critically dampened levels, allowing for more musical reproduction and more accurate response.

Installation and fabrication isn't that difficult.

Well we shall soon find out how this sounds. It has been started and almost finished all in 2 days. I can post pics when its completed. But for now thats all I can mention.

Devan that site it seems like your on the right track I want to have just a spring like the picture that doesnt take much force to close being I will be using 2 cause I want to eliminate the bars on the rear deck for the trunk lid.

whats77- I read most of that thread but seemed to get mixed reviews? I searched around for that specific shock and can't be found. If I would use the less powerful shock could I run 2? I have a deadened lid with OEM wing. But I would just prefer 2 verses one. Can you tell me which you have? and how many?
