i think its a good deal

i recently decided to redo my system in my legend, i aquired a 4channel amp for dirt cheap and so i went to see how much i could get the components installed for. i went to a local audio shop where ive gotten stuff done before, i started talking with the guy, and he sugested getting a new deck since mine is bottom of the line. We started looking at the cd players and homeboy said if he had to choose a certain cd player he would choose the pioneer 6800, he showed me why, and man its got so much shit on it, 7stage equilizer, sub and component control, its just a sweet deck....heres a pic

heres a link to the pioneer site with specs....http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...tailsComponent

so basically he said the lowest he could go on the new install, new amp kit, 4 new components, front and back. the total price for install was $470. sounds like a good price since the pioneer went for $350 by itself. lemme know if you think its a good deal.

its the front and back components, it might seem like its more show but he showed me everything it does and it seems good, im still skeptical b/c i went in to put it on layaway and the end came out to be like $705!!! so im still debating it. it would be prolly planet audio tweeters and backs. hope that explains a lil better

Without knowing exactly what you're installing it's hard to say what's a good deal and what isn't but $750 sounds way cheap to me...

I'm not exactly using top of the line gear and $750 only bought me my woofer setup and 2 6x9s... and I installed it all myself (which I'll suggest to anyone who has ever dared use a soldering iron - that's the hardest part of it all, the rest is careful work and some patience).

its actually $705, im getting a new pioneer cd player...planent audio front door speakers...and planet audio rears....new amp kit and re-install, for $705. so now that i think about it, it sounds decent, if your not using top of the line and yours was more than $705. Also they are giving me the deck at cost=$200 and its like $250 on pioneers website....so maybe its still a good deal.

That place is a ripoff if they are selling it for $350. Even Best Buy sells it for $270.

When I meant at cost, I meant at the cost the retailer pays for it. But, if your saving $150 from that place, I guess that isn't too bad. But, you could still save more money on that deck.

Can't blame you there.

Question. Do they charge more for install if you buy stuff from elsewhere and bring it to them to install? If not, you can buy the same stuff online and probably save a few hundred.

Good idea. And, try to barter will places also. Be sure to get written quotes of what you are planning on doing, and take them with you to the different places. Most audio shops will try to beat there competitors total price(parts and labor) to get the business.
