L Headunit in LS?

I have tried to find the answer to this question but since the search tool only processes words of two or more letters I can't search on "L".

I have a 91 LS sedan with the Bose 2100 headunit. If I put in a standard L headunit, will the wiring harnesses plug in and work correctly? My plan is to bypass the amp and replace the 2-ohm speakers with 4 ohm OEM speakers. Basically to convert from the 2-ohm LS system to the 4-ohm L system. Does anyone know if this will work?

Thanks, Mike

if your going to all that trouble why not just change the head unit as well go after market?

If you bypass the LS amp and out in 4ohm speakers it ought to work.

Cool

I am thinking of doing this so I can still use steering wheel volumn controls and don't have to rewire or add an adapter for an after-market head unit.

Plus I have some "L" 4 ohm speakers I can use.

oh ok they make a unit that you hook up to you deck that still allows you to use your steering controls but its only for some decks not all our best buy had them about 2 years ago.

PAC makes an adapter, SWI-X, that will connect to your steering wheel controls and control any deck that has a remote.

I would never put a factory deck back in my car if I am keeping it.
Upgrade your deck and speakers and bypass the factory amp and you are good to go.
