The Bose speakers are tuned for the Legend environment (at least, so they claimed back in the day.)
On "stock" CD changers: Unless for some reason, you collect OEM toys (some folks here do...) then don't bother finding an Acura badged changer. The most direct replacement is any Alpine 6 CD changer with an MBUS signal cable but most of these only read CDs. You can get newer CD changers that read MP3s: the Alpine 6-disk players that do this use the AiNET signal cable but it can adapted to work with the factory head unit via adapters inline on the signal cable.
The MP3 units were running about $350 last I looked (years ago) so if you already have an iPod, I'd advise you skip the changer and go straight for a BlitzSafe or similar. The non-mp3 units frequently come up for sale around here: I sold my unit ages ago for something on the order of $75? Maybe $150?
Search around the forum for a phone number with which to call Bose. Their factory store provides the best prices on replacement drivers. Don't call your local dealer though, there's like a 10x markup.
EDIT: I think this is the number for Bose: 800-231-2673

Antik,
I appreciate your incite on my audio build; I decided to stick with BOSE... It seems like I would spend a unjustified amount of money just to barely exceed the performance out of the BOSE setup...
I just bought the Blitzsafe adapter you have mentioned and I am going to replace all the speakers with BOSE replacement speakers...
So the replacements directly through BOSE will only run me about $20 a piece? That sounds almost too good to be true... As far as replacements; I belive since I have the BOSE Premiums, I have a Components setup (tweeters in addition to the midrange-woofer)... Are the replacements midrange-Woofer only?
Let me know if there is anything special I have to do in order to get them at this price...
Thanks again for you help...
My current planned setup is as follows:
-STOCK Premium BOSE Deck
-STOCK 200watt Premium BOSE Amp
-Replace All STOCK BOSE speakers with BOSE 2-ohm replacements
-BlitzSafe Adapter for IPOD connectivity
-Line-In Convertor for Sub Amp
-Sub Amp with remote volume control for 8,10 or 12 inch woofer
-8,10 or 12 inch Woofer in sealed box...
I still have to find a woofer that can be pushed (not over powering internal speakers)... I just want more of a low-end that a midrange speaker can't provide.
Yo, im usually the first to say replace factory speakers but the factory bose speakers in our cars are cleaner than a LOT of aftermarket stuff out there. I blew my rear speakers, so i replaced them with entry level Eclipse 6.5's. Unfortunately, i found my front Bose speakers to be MUCH less tinny and offer a more full sound. I'd say stick with bose and add a 10 inch sub in the trunk. Change the headunit out for a Pioneer or Eclipse, and add a small 4 channel (although im running mine off the headunit for now and I make a lot of people jeolous for the clarity)
Oh, and as for the sub, I personally am a big fan on MTX (im prolly gonna get some heat for saying that). go with a 5500 series 4-ohm(cleaner bass imo) 10 with a 200 to 300 watt 2 channel amp.
Before we get to discussing overhauling that system, are you aware that replacement woofer drivers can be had from Bose on the order of $20 ea? That means you can replace all the blown speakers in your system for <$100. $100 won't even buy you a pair of speakers that sound as good as the Bose Premiums.
Now where would a guy go to get this deal? My speakers are blown. And also, I dont have the premium speakers.... Just the regular bose speakers. Will it still be $20? And what are my options if I wanted to use my iPod with the stock system? Thanks in advance.

Read this entire thread from start to finish... Antek mentioned the Blitzsafe product for IPOD hookup and it appears to be the best of its kind.... I'm buying it.
I'm still not sure where and how to get the cheap BOSE replacements... I'm going to try contacting BOSE directly and see what I can work out

You can call Bose and see if you can work out a deal but if you don't have the premium system, I believe the drivers are more expensive. However, you have the luxury of nearly the entire aftermarket available to you: your sound system works at a 4ohm resistance (unlike the Premium which works at 2ohm) which is exactly what most aftermarket solutions are designed for.
Bose replacements may still be one of the cheaper upgrade paths, but you can really replace your speakers with anything that fits. If you have a Tweeter or a Myer Emco near you, I'd suggest you look into their hardware - I'd avoid Best Buy and other big box stores: their hardware is inferior and usually costs just as much. Cheaper still is to pick your solution in a store (so you can hear the hardware and identify which you like) and then buy online.
Also, I'd consider Crutchfield: though they aren't the cheapest supplier out there, they are truly wonderful to work with! Infinity gear is on sale today too!
Your options for iPod connectivity are the same as those with the Premium systems (some suggestions above) unless you've replaced the factory head unit.

Perhaps you missed my edit in an earlier post. Calling Bose directly is where you find the cheapest OEM replacements.

Well you are the same as me then... I was looking for another type of device that might have USB support (I know I'm shooting for the moon) .... I prefer the convenience of an Aftermarket deck, but it definitely appears that BOSE is the way to go...

I have been reading through your comments and I had no idea about this Bose speaker replacement that is offered.
Is there a limit, because I own a 94 gs and 95 LS that I have almost ready to buy the 2ohm Infinity Reference 6022si for the fronts at $58 Shipped and the 9623I 6x9's at $80.
Soooo 140.00 verus 80 and im thinking yes I would like to save $60 a car
You said the number for Bose direct is 800-231-2673
Im not a mega teci on speakers but when you and everyone keeps saying Woofer Drivers only, then what does one do, im sure I can ask Bose, but i put it to you, does this involve taking off your tweeater or something or are you saying I can get both front and rear speakers from bose for $20 each so $80 per car. And will bose verify this to me by asking for something like my VIN number or they just dont care?
Please post another update, I really want my sound back!!!!
James
I can be reached directly at topcat706@aol.com
I hope this bose thing is for real still

James- the Bose availability, last I heard, is still very real.
To address the "woofer only" question: the Bose systems use component speaker designs so the woofer and tweeter are already separate. There's no need to separate parts of the speaker or anything of that sort: it's a drop in replacement. The woofers fail frequently but rarely do the tweeters so it's usually sufficient to simply replace the woofers.
If you buy from Bose, they wires snap on just like the speakers you'll remove and the drivers screw right back into the original mounts. It's a piece of cake to work with the individual speakers when they arrive - it's more difficult to get the doors and speaker grills off without breaking anything (though, not to say that that's hard either!)

I can tell you first hand that a JL audio 300/4 4channel at 75 x 4 and a 500/1 powering 12inch sub in a sealed box will rock the car and put you right up on the front row at your favorite concert figuratively speaking! Buy it used or on sale and you want be disappointed Ive been doing car audio for 23 years and for the money you cant beat JL audio!!!
