i recently purchased a pair of 6x9's by them and am very happy with them considering i only paid $125. the 3 way speakers are a little bright on the tweeter side but a good all around speaker. i think a component set up in the front and 6x9's in the back would sound great with MB Quarts

I have MB Quarts all around amped by an Alpine 4-channel and they sound fantastic. Ive had them for over 4 years. Clean solid mids, respectable lows for noncomponents, and crisp clean highs. There is also no distortion when cranked to high volume levels. I've heard many speaker brands and I am by far satisfied with MB Quart over the rest.
3-ways are great for the rear, but only if you detach the stock tweeters in the back. Otherwise there will be way too much highs. 2-ways will suffice in the front if you chose to leave the stock tweeters connected. |

I don't have any but MB Quart speakers are some of the nicest speakers you can have... You still may want a sub but don't go overboard. you will lose the quality of sound by overdosing the highs and mids with bass... If I remember correctly they use to be the suppliers for lexus or was that Nokamichi. Whatever, those are a good selection for quality sound...

I have their 4 channel amp running Kappas and it sounds amazing, high end, but amazing... the sound is very clear... I wanted to go for the component speakers, but I really did not like their tweeters.....

They are pretty decent for budget builds. For as much as a kit costs you I have a set for sale (not mb quart) that would blow them away

MB Quart used to be some of the finest stuff available though they've unfortunately they aren't what they once were and the car audio world has raised the bar a little over the last few years. Still, they're a great sounding speaker: I've liked the ones I've heard. I found them to be a bit bright but very clear in that range. It's a good sound though it may not be to everyone's taste.
The usual questions ensue: what's your budget? What are you looking to accomplish? Etc. etc. My recommendation is the same in all of these threads: * Forget everything anyone's ever told you about what to buy in car audio. * Go to your local car audio shop with a friend (not Circuit City or Best Buy mind you) and your favorite tunes. * Queue up the tunes you wanna hear: the stuff you'd listen to first thing on your new system * Kick the sales rep out of the sound room or tell him/her to STFU until you're ready to talk to him/her * Turn your back on the wall or close your eyes * Have your friend cycle through the speakers that are in your budget, giving you a number for each set so that you can identify the different sets by something that is NOT their brand name. * Chose which set you like best by process of elimination: this often takes several iterations. * Don't open your eyes until you've made a decision that you have confidence in. * Pony up. This way, you carry home the speakers that you think sound the best and it has nothing to do with what people on the internet who have no idea what they're talking about (or perhaps know a ton about what they're talking about) have zero influence. The only influence is that of the shop and what brands they have to offer but a good shop with sufficient selection should be good. Find a shop that sells MB Quart components among some other brands and I think you'll fare just fine with the selection available to you. Until one has the bank roll to buy a speaker, test it, decide it's junk and return/sell it again, one should not buy speakers without hearing them. If you're at that point, we should be discussing other brands which, unfortunately, are really only easily obtainable via the internet. If you're ready to spend $500+ on a component set, say so and I'll see if I can't provide any direction for ya.

The only problem I see with that scenario is that speakers sound different on a sound display board... I'm serious about my audio and I'm not kidding lol. There's definitely a discernable difference from what's going on in the display to what happens when you put them in the car. I do agree, with going with the one that sounds most pleasing to your ear first. But if you can, find someone with it already installed. I liked my infinity coaxials outside the car, but they were REALLLLLY bright when used with the Stock Bose headunit/Amp. I would have preferred a soft dome tweet with less......."tweet" ![]() as for MB Quart, it is a definitely a decent brand and something you should consider, but there are other brands out there for less that give you more. I had some 15" MB Quart subs since I was more about sound quality than boom. |

I agree with Antik & B+O for the most part. Most car audio consumers really dont know what theyre talkin about mostly because they dont have an ear for quality and because they dont do proper research. Most use the idea of " loud is good" as their basis of rating quality. In fact, true quality is based on clarity, sound output (RMS rating NOT max wattage), and equality in all 3 bands (high, mid & low).
The best thing to do is hear the equipment yourself and find what brand best suits your taste. Take into consideration what amps and headunits are powering the speakers you hear as well. Each brand balances their sound production their systems differently. Some favor beefy feel, some high-heavy, some mid-heavy. For example (this is specifically for speakers only)... MB Quart = as of 4 years ago when I bought mine, great overall sound quality; excellent clarity at high volume levels; expensive Alpine = excellent highs & mids; solid but not excessively deep lows; excellent clarity; inexpensive cost Infinity = crisp highs; quality mids & lows; solid clarity, above average cost Kenwood = beefy sound; moderate highs; good clarity; modest cost Pioneer, Sony, & AudioBahn = they all sound very similar with Sony being slightly better, but I consider all 3 very overrated; modest quality, poor clarity in higher volume ranges; I would only suggest them as cheap factory replacement option. I've listenned to alot of brands of audio hooked up several ways and I have a keen ear for sound quality. So I recommend that you consider the aforementioned brands. i have the old mb quarts before they were bought out sound awesome
they were 500 for the 6X9s at the time they sound great but now if i were to get speakers now i think i would go with infinti for 6x9s really good priced sound good just installed infiniti perfect fronts and 6x9s kappa 3ways into an accord sound really crisp sub is a 12L7 4ohm... its clear bass but i think the problem with the kicker 750.1 amp is the frequency does not get as low as JL as for a modern day purchase id get kappas |
