OE system replacement????
OK I was thinking, I have a 2200 system with 8 speakers(4 woofers and 4 tweeters) and wanted to know are the factory speakers all 8ohms paralled up on each channel for a 4 ohm load? If so, when I replaced the factory speakers with 4ohm 6.5s and 6.9s and using a aftermarket H/U, then I should be good? What do I do with the factory tweeters since they have their own wiring harnesss?

I still have the factory speakers and H/U. Only the left side speakers, front/rear/ play sound. The right side when I turn the balance know to that side I hear nothing, however if I turn it up all the way I hear static out of the speakers and no sound. My goal with a car system is to be able to hear the music clearly, while driving with my windows and sunroof open at 65mph. Even with all speakers playing I do not think I could hear the stereo. I am biased toward Infinity Reference speakers, even though the bass is not that good, but for mids and highs I love them. I also had a set of Blaupunkt, yes Blaupunkt separates that played really good. I probably will have to amplify the front and leave the back running off the H/U for rear fill. 50w/ch on the front has worked for me in the past with 150-200 on the Bazooka 10" tube.

First thing, you don't need rear speakers unless you have people riding in the car with you a lot. Rear fill will actually throw off your sound stage drastically. Spend the extra on a decent set of components for your front stage and then amp them. You can even go the extra and use a 4 channel and run an active crossover setup. But with being a beginner, just get a 2 channel and use the crossover that comes with the components. You'd be surprised on how much just a front stage can do, I've been running a custom 3 way component setup all on active crossovers for my front stage for awhile, and I've heard the drums in certain songs wrap completely around me even though the speakers are only up front, starting from behind me to fading all the way around. The Bazooka sub should be fine for you, I've been running 1x 8" sub with only about 200w RMS on it, since I fried the other one, and it gives me plenty of bass inside the car. I don't care if people can hear it outside. |

My 95 Civic coupe only had the Blaupunkt separates in kick panels and 2 12's. The car did not come from the factory with rear speakers and because the car's interior was so tight I did not want to mess up the sound stage. The Legend on the otherhand is much larger than the Civic interior spacer, and yes my kids ride in the car. I want them to appreciate good sound also. Going for a nice 4 channel amp for simplicity. I have had many systems and with the Legend I just want to keep it simple.

I bought the coupe which came stock, the first thing that I changed on the car was the Speakers, I changed them all to Infinity Kappa Components all around with the tweeters being custom mounted on the doors and in the rear I had the Stereo tech cut through the rear tweeters, I don’t have the coupe now to take photos of it as it is in the shop so you can know what I mean by seeing the pictures. It sounded really good with the stock set up, a little harsh at time depending on the music, but it had much more detail and bass then the stock speakers for sure.

I love Infinity speakers. Don't get me wrong, my favorite speaker manufacture is MB Quart. I remember hearing some 4 inch separates some years ago and the clarity and clearness out of those speakers should have been illegal. I got into Blaupunkt back in 02. I was looking for some inexpensive components for the Civic and tried them out. They were a little bright at times but overall good sound. There is a song by SADE that I like to test harshness on speakers, I believe it is Kiss of Life. Just traded my 2 12" Kenwood subs for a 10 Bazooka tube. On a mission for more stuff.![]() |

i had mb quarts in my s2000 and it was music to my ears. the cars doesn't come with rear speakers and those in the front were all that were needed even with the top down. i had a 10" sub in the spare tire tub to add some bass to the setup.
i can agree that a front-stage setup is all thats really necessary but i prefer to be surrounded by my music. if you want to keep your factory tweeters, run them off of the door speakers but run an 'in-line' bass blocker to the mix. check the front volume level against the rear and make sure the tweeters aren't sucking up too much power. if they are, or if it doesn't sound good then just unhook them. |

IMO MB Quart is the intro to higher end audio. My front stage consists of Seas Excel Tweeters, Peerless 4" mids, and Hertz 7" woofer all running off Arc Audio amps along with my RE8. I've heard MB Quart and it was nice, but with my set up I get a lot more depth in the midrange and low end range.
