Replacing Speakers

For my dads christmas present I want to repace the speakers in his 88 acura legend (US model). Currently they give off more static then music, worse as you turn it up. I am guessing it is jsut the speakers. I belive everythign is stock. The dash system looks stock and pioneer TS-06004 speakers (in the back from what i can read at least). Being a student I'm looking at 200$ tops for all four which form what i have read should all be 6 1/2". What should I be looking for speakers wise and I figure I'm gunna install it myself being fairly handy i would like to think and maybe that electric engineering course will actually be useful. I was reading about the big 3 and such, and if other things would help the sound I would be willing to read up on it and attempt as long as it can be done failry cheaply. Thanks alot guys.

Replace Entire System Radio and Speakers.

On a G1 Legend you want to replace the entire system. The stock radio has an internal subwoofer that only works well on stock speakers. Shop around you may find a place that will replace the speakers and the head unit for around $200.00 Also know that when you replace the head unit you will lose the volume button and the radio on/off buttom on the dash board.

you lose the buttons, but depending on the Hu you may be able to get an aftermarket adapter andhave them work again. but not for less than $200.

Ya I have seen quite a few speakers on sale and what not to do for under 200$ for all 4 but wasn't sure if I should be looking for a specific wattage or what not with the stock head unit but if efasion is right I should really look into the whole thing. And then in that case I can't install it myself, man this is turning out to be a harder then I wanted it to christmas present.
