Question Sliding Subwoofer....Solutions?

Alright, so i finally traded my 15in kicker for something smaller that doesnt take up the entire back of my XS.

i traded with a guy for a 12in Polk Audio sub. It sounds nice, its got a nice deep thump, less outside vibration than the 15, but sounds great inside and thats what counts!

So now that the box is smaller, i find it slide around alot, even with normal driving. I want to avoid screwing it down to the floor cause my entire trunk compartment has little hatches with storing under it, for spare/jack/other randoms, and when i take my friends dogs to the park i need to be able to move it easy.

I was thinking maybe just nailing some rough sand paper onto the bottom.

Any ideas?

If the box is carpeted just put some velcro down in the trunk. it should give you just enough stick to keep it from sliding and still be able to pull it out with ease

Bungee cords or nylon tie downs are probably the easiest and least invasive options.

You could also stick multiple strips of velcro tape (just the rough part) to the bottom of the sub and it should make a tight enough bond with the carpet to prevent sliding under normal driving conditions.

yup, exactly what i did. went to hobby store, got 4 strips of industrial velcro, and some super glue. super glued the hook strip to the sub on all 4 corners. its tough to pull off but it comes out with the strips still on the sub.

for future reference you could have also used one of those "sticky pads" from the dollar store that are designed to put your cell phone on in the car and have it not slide around. One of those under the box should stop it from sliding.

Try making a small bracket on the back of the box and screw it on with a bolt.
