Sub questions

I am going to be installing two Eclipse SW6210 12" subs. I am going to run these off of an Alpine PDX 1000.1 amp. So I have a few questions before I do this to make sure this will all work out. I already have a 400w 4 channel running my 4 internal infinity speakers and a distribution block with 4 guage wire going into it. Ok so now that you have the background here are my questions....

1.) Will this setup work / sound good?
2.) Will I need a capacitor / how many farads?
3.) What type of sub enclosure should I get / where?
4.) What type of sub enclosure will fit good in my 94 Legend sedan?
5.) Am I missing anything else?

Thank you guys. You are always a big help!

Edit: Heres a link to the subs: ECLIPSE Subwoofers SW6210/SW6010 | Fujitsu Ten

Type of sub enclosure depends on if you're going for Sound Quality or SPL (loudness)..SPL gets louder but you lose sound quality..sealed box for sound quality and ported for SPL...usually you can find recommended specs by the sub manu on their website...they recommend either ported or sealed boxes and sometimes the dimensions (size per chamber)...Custom built box to the specs for your trunk will sound best...am in this process too, lol...I am going for SQ, not entering any competitions and I am not trying to impress anybody, so SQ for me....sealed box. G'luck.

I would like to go for sound quality also. I have a feeling that this setup will be plenty loud without going to SPL haha.

I would put a minimum of a 1 Farad cap in.

but from what it looks like, the best would prob be a 1.5 farad cap or a 2.0 cap..

for everything to sound good..in my opinion..you need to have great installation...a lot of ppl look pass that when its very important...so is the enclosure....so dont go cheap on the enclosure...they can make or break your system.....use as much sound deadning as you can afford....proper tuning of amps is important as well....if you do use the cap..then get rid of the dist. block...dont need to much resistance...and you should be fine..

Going to dynamat the trunk after everything is installed. I am having all of the components installed professionally because I am worried about everything being tuned properly and a good solid ground and especially the enclosure. I am having it all done by the same car audio shop who did my HU, internal speakers, and 4 channel amp and that sounds great so I trust them to do the same this time. Thanks for the advice guys. Any suggestions on specific caps?

My distro block only has 1 open socket so i would have to buy another distro and I already have the RCA cable ran back for only 1 amp. I think the 1000 watt alpine should push them both pretty hard.

+1. Of course I have 3 amps running my front speakers, so I definately believe in headroom.

why push 2 JL 500.1 when I can push 1 Alpine pdx 1000.1 and save room? won't they still bump real hard?

Absolutely. You won't be disappointed.
The advantage of running multiple amps is that you can keep the gains much lower. Lower gains means the amps will run cleaner, more efficiently, and stay nice and cool. Plus the power is there to blast those subs if you ever wanted to.

The Alpine PDX is a class D though so your power draw will be less, and your system will be easier to set up. Multiple amp setups are more for SQ and SPL competition. May be a little more than you were trying to get into....

What kind of box are you going with?

I actually have no idea I was hoping to hear from everyone on that subject specifically... I am pretty clueless on that issue. Suggestions please???
