Question Super Difficult Super Simple

I'm tryin to install a set of 6x9's in the grill of my car. The thing about it, I can just go to a shop and they'll do it for a few bucks. But I want to hook these up to a separate amp from my subs and other highs/mids so that I can turn them off at will.

My questions are:

1. How do I hook this setup up so that I can run a toggle switch to turn them off from inside the car?

2. I want to put another small battery in the trunk for my subs, how do I wire this?

1) There are a few ways to disable the speakers with a switch. A simple method is to run a separate remote wire from the HU to the switch and then to the amp powering the speakers you want to control. However, if you have multiple devices being switched by the two remote wires, you would need to install a 12v relay so you don't damage the HU.

2) In the case of an auxiliary battery installation in the trunk, you will need to use a battery isolator. This will allow the current to flow to the second battery, but will keep the starting battery separated from the auxiliary. Unless the two batteries are in close proximity and are of the same size, make and age you must isolate them or you are likely to have problems.

I should add that the speakers you use in that location should be rated for outdoor use- There are Marine rated speakers that will work. Standard speakers probably won't last too long.
