whats the diff between avic z1 and z2

im looking for major differences between the two. if i can find some avic Z2 for around $1000 i wonder how much a Z1 cost. but as far as a cab driver told me (he had this in my car and looks just as good) he thinks that the only thing is the map is updated.

does anyone knows what the biggest (and some of the littlest) differences between the 2 head units and where or how hard would it be to find a new Z1

I know the Z2 has a 30GB hard drive, but I'm not sure about the Z1.I'm looking into this myself, I have a friend in Queens selling me a D2 with a cracked screen, which I'll have to purchase from pioneer. But I'm also debating over the Z2/N3 for my Maxima. The D2 will go into the coupe.

the cab driver said there is a hard drive in his z1 and he can save songs etc, but there is noone who can really give a big insight on this?

even an informative link with a comparison would do

What's New for 2007...
The AVIC-Z2 replaces the 2006 AVIC-Z1 and it features all of the powerful capabilities of its predecessor, while adding some cool new enhancements such as:

Point Addressing
The AVIC-Z2 takes advantage of a new mapping feature, Point Addressing. Many destinations are now geocoded to a precise location, rather than to an address range, making routing more precise than ever before.
3D Landmark Icons and Updated POI Icons
The AVIC-Z2's graphic map interface features 3D landmark icons for airports, amusement parks, golf courses, stadiums, and zoos. POI icons appear on the map en route, making it easy to identify the locations closest to your path.
Traffic Icons and Traffic Flow Lanes
An enhanced display of traffic conditions of a 1.0 ~ 2.5-mile map scales provides maximum navigation efficiency.
Bluetooth Voice Operation*
Dial any of your programmed entries on the internal hard disk phone book with a simple voice command.
*Requires use of the Pioneer ND-BT1 adapter (sold separately)

doesnt the z1 have bluetooth as well... aside from minor updates that pinpoints acuracy its basically the same isnt it?

would it make sense to get a Z1. i saw a package for a Z2X for about 1200 includes bluetooth and camera (which i might swap out to get the license plate fram camera)

also i hear about z2 freezing alot had they fixed this issue for sure yet?

As for the freezing, both the Z1 and the Z2 are prone to freeze. Pioneer is aware of the situation, and the have a downloadable software the can be downloaded and burned onto a CD, to be uploaded into the units to elimnate the problem.and its for free, you can either, download and burn, get the free CD from Pioneer, or sent them your unit Via shipping for them to do thr process.

Right now after reading up on the systems, I'm going to purchase a D3 and a Z2 system for the rides.

I thought about the N3-N4 but with a flip out I don't want to worry about bad motors and flip screen getting stuck, after a period of time.

The Z2 is the top of the line, followed by the N series, and then comes the D series.

Show them the dough, you could beat them in the head for about 1100, if your bargaining skillz are up to par. You could walk away with that for 1000 even, without looking back. They don't like to see money walk out the door, especially CASH. Make it happen.
