local area search option?

ive wondered this for awhile, is there or can there be a way to search for people in for example, Austin Tx. or do it by state then city. this would help for people who see people on the road and want to ask, instead of posting a thread about "hey i saw a member i think" they can look through the listing of members in the city and narrow the search.

just a thought, i think it would help some.

Theres a thread somewhere that links to a map where everyone can put a little peg where they live. I don't know how to find it though.

ya, but not everyone is posted in there, its acutally in lounge, stickied at the top. but i want a website search feature for members, where you can enter Austin Tx, and if someone has put that in their profile, it will show up as a search result.

I've always liked the idea of having Regional sub-forums.

Southeast, Northeast, Central, Midwest, Southwest, Northwest, West Coast, etc.

It would be much easier to set up meets, have roll call threads, Legend sightings, etc.

To any Admin, would that be a possibility?

I really think a regional section(s) would benefit us (the forum).

Good idea.
Some people don't put their location in the right format of course, or lie about it, so if it were possible, those members might be discluded.

But yeah, I like the idea of being able to send a PM to all the members in your state if you are having a meet rather than search through tons of posts.
