Ahem "Thunder, Thunder, ThunderAc's, Hooooooooooo!," Yo do realize you've told ALL of us how old you are. It's okay some of us watched that as well growing up. I wonder when Robot Chicken will spoof on that one! Anyway the mechanic hasn't called me back about my possible remedy (perhaps only temporarily) to get the Legend on safe running mode. I'm keeping my eyes and ears open on this one.

I'm good for whatever meet comes up soon.

clb26, the best way to go in my opinion is to rebuild your motor. I just had mine done, runs like no other, wouldn't think twice if I had to do it again. When and where about in Huntsville did you stay?

I lived off Mastin Lake over by Davis Hills School. The old neighborhood has REALLY changed. Makes me sad anytime I come back and see how its declined. I've been gone since 1996. Have TONS of friends still up there. So what kind of cost did your rebuild run? I could do a swap for around $2500-$2800 but can't guarantee what condition the replacement motor would be in. Today I took the Legend for a quick spin around the block. It needed the attention. For now I just have to be content driving my M.

Yea, that neighborhood has changed alot over time. I have a couple friends that have been buying up places over there and fixing them back up, so hopefully it will get back to par soon.
My rebuild cost was somewhere around $1800. I'm unsure on an exact dollar amount, I traded my Maxima for the work. That includes EVERYTHING. Timing belt, gaskets, seals, everything. I still had the original headgasket with 333,028 miles, but the dang seals were shot and it would burn a quart or two of oil every 2,500-3,000 miles. I just went ahead and had him replace it all. I just kept thinking, I have a used engine already, so why would I invest more money to replace it with another used engine that I know nothing about. I have driven it over 2,000 miles since, and I can let it run at idle for an hour, rev it up and no smoke at all. I will definitely do it again at 600,000 miles. I can give you his number if you want to talk to him about it. It is Aaron's Automotive up in Grant, AL.

Anyways, I'm up for almost any kind of meet, I won't be entering any autox games, but I'll watch.
