oh i'd like to point out that there is >NO< free parking anywhere in santa monica / malibu, so make sure you have some cash on hand. which would be a bump for meeting at the top and driving down

A random parking lot would be good...Legends works...

Its been a while...but I used to do Kanan Dume from 1 to 101 fairly often....even though its uphill, its a good run....

But like I said, its been a while for me...is it possible to get brake fade while coming down from 101? I wouldnt want to put anyone with lower end brake pads or less experience in that kinda position you know?

anything is possible but is it likely that a group of us on a sunday drive are going the be able to get that aggressive on beach access canyons, no. Even cheap pads should work unless there's going to be lots of double yellow passing action, if there is I'll be the old guy in the back.

Were is our proposed meeting spot? IDK where legends is sounds like a possibility though. I also think there are enough business at sunset and pch we could free park for long enough for everyone to meet up. Or maybe at a supermarket or something like that just off the 10 before we get to close the beach and the realm of no available parking.

YET another good point... we can try and avoid parking headaches along the coast line by starting the meet at the top of Kanan Rd off 101 freeway and head straight down to Pacific Cove Beach Cafe for lunch.

Jonathan, we will start an official "SoCal '08 Sunday Cruise" thread as soon as we can all agree on a route for the canyon run(s), and I'm hoping in a few hours or so. If NOT, I'll make official by 5PM!!!

PS: Did I forgot to mention Tyson is attending?!?

Lol good point about there being a group of us...usually when I'm alone, I'll push it a little bit, but I've got a braking setup that can handle some moderate twisty fun ....a group of us shouldnt be too bad...I was just trying be mindful hahaha...

So I guess it comes down to what do you guys like better? Meeting in Augora and heading down or meeting in Santa Monica and heading up?

I vote Santa Monica and PCH cruise before canyon run simply due to the immense amount of photo op spots along the way, and the more lunch options available along the 101...

You've got my vote

I'd rather cruise PCH in the morning rather than the afternoon.

In A-L community, you are my friend ...now who'd want to miss an opportunity to meet the "Road Trip King" in person... I wouldn't

Do we want to meet in Malibu or meet in West LA/Santa Monica and cruise up PCH to Malibu together?
