Most sundays are good for me. has anyone thought about the San Bernadino Mountains for a drive? Angeles Crest Highway and the upper section of highway 2 are very popular with the bike riders and is less crowded than a mountain like Palomar or most the Malibu canyons on a weekend. Newcombs Ranch (name is close to that if not that exactly) is about a 40 min drive up the mountains from where the 210 meets the 2 and they have good(decent) food. There are plenty of large turn outs up in the mountains with different views behind them for pictures. There are some bridges and tunnels up there in the mountains also but not on the drive up the 2 to Newcombs Ranch we'd have to do further in for tunnels I think and down a different way to hit the bridges. Just throwing this out there as a potential for this time or the future. I'm close enough I could do some scouting or something like that. Sometimes there is some law presence up there to keep the bikes from tearing it up to freely but trust me theres lots of opportunity for pushing it a little.

lets just hope i don't have last minute things come up. this passed year it seems that NOTHING i plan on doing works.. so ummm, count me out, and i might actually show up
damn my life.. oh,, lunch at neptunes net on PCH. definately a good spot. and the canyon that empties out right there (yerba buena) is a GREAT uphill twistie, if you've got the balls and the tires to hang. it dumps onto mullhullond right by decker cyn, then a slight decker run, to mullhullond ( JAMES DEAN STATUS) and mull has alot of popular spots, mostly for bikes, but its ALWAYS a great drive, even just to cruise it. |

mmm Neptunes Net, thats actually real good food and in a casual setting at a reasonable price if I remember right, it's been a while. I'm cool with malibu as long as our planner knows well enough to keep us off the busy roads. Nothing sucks worse than being on a nice canyon road behind a long line of cars going the speed limit or less. I'm not saying I'm a racer or anything, but I could keep up with Tubadude if I wanted to.

but for the highway 2 thing, i havnt driven it, but my g/f's dad i believe has to bypass the cajon pass. (I.E. traffic) ill ask him about it and see what he thinks about it. i think if we do it, it will have to wait till it warms up. it snowed over 4" this weekend. and that was in Hesperia. but another trip we could do is 138 to 18 to the 215. its 110 miles from:cajon junction to:CA-138 @34.317181, -117.366704 to:Main St @34.413150, -117.254690 to:CA-18 @34.450828, -117.007255 to:CA-18 @34.341610, -116.840606 to:CA-18 @34.221070, -117.049640 to:CA-18 @34.225142, -117.243303 to:34.145908,-117.279053 - Go we can also do it the other way as well. but from point B to D isnt windy, but we could open it up if we chose, i cant say ive seen a cop in those areas. |

Tuba brings up a good point about the big mountains getting snow which means sand/gravel on the roads for a while. Sounds like it's the season for the coast. I'm up for whatever, most sundays are open.
