Cool Gabe... looking at 101 to the Malibu junction; drive from Agoura Hills through Kanan Rd to PCH seems like a lot of fun.

ok guys.. now you're in my territory.. before the legend i was the proud driver of a 240sx.. and in a local car club named TOUGE SYNDICATE..
haha.. kanan=SNORE .. malibu cyn= ex girlfriends house and ALWAYS traffic

westlake blvd.. to decker cyn.. to mullhullond NORTH.. to yerba buena.. to PCH .. find a map and look it up.. it ends at neptunes net ( a little shack resturaunt on the beach) awesome views.. good starting point for a cruise..

oh but average speeds on yerba buena are 15-20 in anything less than an STI or EVO.. haha.. and make sure your brakes are in perfect working order

that used to be my every weekend drive with all the homies.. its good times for sure.

Thank you for your input das... it sounds like a good route for twisty run, is anybody up for this one? I know I am

Cool, the more the better... hopefully, we can all agree on a date; shooting for 1st or 2nd week of December, ample time for everybody.

Ugh no, not Westlake please. The road is rough and in terrible shape; last time I drove there the center line did not even divide oncoming traffic well from where I was and the roadside walls were on the verge of collapsing.

I am okay with coastal drives but from the last few meets that I've attended, they tend to be too busy for a good meaningful drive among car enthusiasts. It's fine for a small group of cars (say three or four) but beyond that we need to choose something much less crowded, especially if it's going to be a weekend event.

I am still partial to a mountain run. Not all of the mountains meet snow; certainly Big Bear and Mammoth would but runs such as Julian and Palomar do not.

My proposal for a meet:

First, we meet up somewhere easy to get to. Some coffee place or something. We can head up Palomar around 10am and it won't be too busy, even on a weekend. We can use S6 or S7, doesn't matter. The drive is just gorgeous (pic from latest San Diego Acurazine meet):

Short video I took when a few weeks earlier (Sept. 30th). WARNING! Turn down your sound. Lots of wind noise (unedited raw video).

Palomar S6

From there, it's another set of mild twisties to Julian. On the way we'll have plenty of chances to stop by somewhere and take pictures like this:

I'll get a better map but for now just know it looks kinda like this:
<a href="http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?address=&city=Julian&state=CA&zipcode=&cou ntry=US&title=%3cb%3e%3cspan%20style%3d%22display% 3ainline%3bmargin%2dbottom%3a0px%3b%22%20class%3d% 22locality%22%3eJulian%3c%2fspan%3e%2c%20%3cspan%2 0style%3d%22display%3ainline%3bmargin%2dbottom%3a0 px%3b%22%20class%3d%22region%22%3eCA%3c%2fspan%3e% 20%3cspan%20style%3d%22display%3ainline%3bmargin%2 dbottom%3a0px%3b%22%20class%3d%22country%2dname%22 %3eUS%3c%2fspan%3e%3c%2fb%3e%3c%2fspan%3e&cid=lfma plink2&name=&dtype=s">Map of Julian, CA US</a>

And once we get there we can then buy the best apple pies on Earth:

and eat buffalo burgers, made of real buffalo:

We can just drive down 79 back to the 8 freeway (Viejas casino/shoppingcenter, etc.) or we can just take 78 back to the 5 or the 15. Either way.

Now, you're talking! The map of the Malibu Canyon area is more like it! This would be a VERY pleasureable drive, especially coming from the 101 back down south , winding thru Kanan Dune Road or Muholland Hwy (depending how far north folks want to venture). But stay off Decker Canyon Rd, that's where the hard core racers (Porsches, Ferrarris, and a few serious rockets 'throw down', and trust me, you DO NOT want to be crusin along and something whips by you at 75-80 on a hairpin turn by an inch or two-and Decker has plenty of those. You'll wish you had a change of drawers. They don't play on DCR. I know, I used to jam it in my Super Sport (which was great in a straight line but was to big to handle on curves). Almost bit the big one up there. Never wanted to go back. And because of all that activity, cops just lay in wait....

FFDrifter above made a very good point about a caravan with too many cars having a hard time moving thru all the tourist traffic on many of those twisty roads that leed back down to Malibu & PCH. That IS something to consider, especially if we have the kind of turnout like a couple of weeks ago. Or more.

But (back to the Malibu run for a minute), on the way back in on Pacific Coast Hwy, for those interested, we could all make a pitstop at Gladstones for Fish, a VERY popular spot with excellent seafood and drinks and killer Malibu view. Take some susnset pictures. Just a thought.

The Palomar suggestion above sounds also like a enjoyable cruise.

Either one of those concepts, I'm down for!!

I'm very familiar with Fred's (FF Drifter) proposal... Julian and Palomar/Laguna mountain is my summers playground; if you may ...fishing in Cuyamaca lake, off roading at Anza Barrego bad lands and Viejas Casino <=Shitz. forgetaboutit

Malibu ...clueless... alright gentlemen, we're getting somewhere and let's keep this rolling.

More inputs please!

i think we can get close enough. they are 200 ft tall, it would be kinda silly to park next to them and take a picture.

plus, there is a casino out there, if anyone wants to stay the night there, they can. (and by that, i mean gamble)

oh yea, on the way to arizona, we will be driving by, i can take some pics and stuff of whats around. possibly you could too ferjie?

NO can do Austin, different route... we be taking I-40E; the Mrs and I are going to rendezvous in Laughlin on Friday and spending the evening there, maybe on our way back home from the Arizona meet, we'll take I-10W and try to snap some photos.

Back on topic, any other suggestions?!?

Like I said before.... Malibu, and take a 15-20 minute cruize down to Santa Monica.... Park near the pier and get photo ops of the water and the pier.... Eat at the promenade or mall.... Or We'll pitch in for pizzas and eat before hand in Malibu at a hiking picnic area...(not the romantic ones but the ones with the hard cement benches...hehehe) Id love to video tape someone with a remus flying through the tunnels....

Or we can do a evening parking lot meet... Just cuz I got my HIDs now

^^^ Personally, it's a long shot... setting a date between those time frame could be difficult to do; holiday season being at full swing and all, but if we can pull it off, I don't see why not.

If we can make it happen B, consider this your welcome home party from your legend family

Comments anybody?!?
