FS: 16" GS/LS Rims *FAIR CONDITION* + DISCUSSIONS ABOUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE RIMS
for sale:
16" GS/LS Rims. bought them from platinumsoundz who used to be on this forum. had them on my car for about 6-8 months. not bent but has rash. when i bought them, i wanted to chrome them but never got around to it, now im just bored with them. tires are no good and need to be changed but i do have an extra one that has 90% tread. no pics yet but if theres any real interest, i'll get them. im asking $600 shipped with or without the 5 tires. im also up for a trade+cash but they have to be plug and play and come with tires because i dont have time to bore or make any adjustments for fitment. this offer will be up on the forum for 2 weeks (9/28/03-10/12/03) after which it will be going to ebay. -jack jyao@speakeasy.net

For anyone who has a little time, I bought some GS with corrosion and rash off ebay and refinished 'em. They look great - I can do a DIY - or you can search on the net.
Just waiting til the old rubber wears out, but if you want GS rims, you can get the rash out!! Smitty

DIY on refinishing wheels
I can send pics if you want to see them - I haven't figured out how to post them here.
The short version of the DIY: - Strip the clearcoat off the wheels - any good paint stripper will do. - Wash the wheels really good so all that stripper stuff is gone - Use an Orbital Sander - 320 grit paper and sand the wheels until all the rash, corrosion, etc. is gone. - Hand sand with increasingly fine grits of paper - 400, 600, 1000, 1200, 1500 Now comes the choice - either etch the wheels and re-clearcoat or do what I did - I'm going for very shiny, but not a chromed, look - Buff with 3M Perfect It Rubbing Compound - use your electric drill and a buffing wheel - Polish with Mothers Aluminim / Mag Polish You should be able to see yourself in the (almost) mirror-like shine on the wheels. Last, I used a basic Clearcoat polish to clean up the center caps. I'll do a better one of these later - and let me know if you wanna see some pics, I can email em, and if I have some time - and can figure out how to post them here - I will. Smitty
